Wow ...such devastation in my little Canouan. It is great to see so many people staying positive. We are fortunate that no lives were lost there. Stay strong and keep your head up. 🫂

I hope people are noticing that all concrete buildings are standing. Got to put a concrete roof on those beautiful homes. We've been all through this. Once your roof gets ripped off once, you get in the builders and book that concrete truck. Build back stronger.

Yea but we have to think about earthquakes. So is concrete roofs really a safer alternative?

@@lotus9259 Well that's an individual choice to consider and make. Some of my friends went with full concrete roof. Others did partial concrete over kitchen and bedrooms with wooden style rafters over living room. Octagon shaped roofs can withstand alot of wind. Atleast if the roof gets blown off now, they can still stay in the concrete section. We been through a few tremors and the house did shake but still standing.

@@kaxar6954 let me reiterate, in the event of earthquake, would having concert roofs then be a wiser alternative? Simple!

@@lotus9259Did you not see I said that is an individual decision. You decide your risk. Get advice from a structural engineer or local professionals. We also get earthquakes. But I am not worried about a rare earthquake when hurricanes usually hit my island every few years.

@@kaxar6954 hit your island? It's my island too. It irk me seeing so many unqualified personnel's dishing out unsolicited and unfounded advice. No roofs, concrete or galvanize is guaranteed safety. My newly constructed home, with both options, were blown to stuptor. And I would rather have water wetting me, after my roof blows off than concrete falling and trapping me to my death. Also the place hot like hell, with concrete walls, muchless as a roof. How many folks can afford ACs? Go figure and I have made my point, respectively so!

In this day and age, why you covering your roofs with galvanize ? There are better alternatives like asphalt shingles or even steel shingles, it seems like this product is meant for the Caribbean islands, American and Canadian countries would never use it, because they know it is not good, it is time for you to find a better way forward.

Brother, if canada ever got hit by a cat 4 or 5 hurricane most of your buildings would be reduced to rubble as well. The only guard against strong hurricanes, are concrete walls and roofs (see Anguilla). But those too are useless against storm surge and tornadoes. People forget that hurricanes do generate tornadoes.

People cannot be allowed to build in the Caribbean Islands using wood trusses and plywood sheathing. All homes must be of concrete construction, including the roof. In the meantime, ask the USA Army to bring in all those Conex living units they housed their soldiers in during the Iraq war. At least Grenadians will have a safe place to sleep every night.

Sorry about the devastation in Canouan. But God is calling for Canouan to turn back back to Him . Bible says there will be a time of trouble as ever seen before. There will be earthquakes and famine in various places . We are living in the end time and some people do not want to hear anything about God. It is a call to repent and change our antiquated way of thinking The Bible further reiterated that man’s heart will be failing them for the thing that is going to come upon the earth. I know it is a very poignant moment… repent and give your heart to God . Money and wealth will not save you. God is at the door . God loves us ….Repent people of God !!
