NEVER say " You can't do that 'cause......( 'you're a girl' is the worst one, there are others) They actually CAN do what they want IF they have support ! And tell them Often "I, WE, LOVE YOU !!" I too just became a father... wasn't supposed to be possible and I'm 35, but whoa... here's a son for Christmas! Earlier this year I lost my grandfather and, when I was going through his things, I found all the old home movies he took from the 80's through the 90's... including stuff of me as a child. You could tell how much he loved being a grandpa and made sure to record as much as he could, and now even after his passing I am truly grateful he did. I have a background in photo/video, so I was already going to film as much as possible of my little boy, but just seeing your comment here and thinking about how my grandpa followed that philosophy 30+ years ago put a smile on my face. Looks like your comment is 10 months old, putting your daughter at almost 2 years now! Hope all is well with you and your family!

    Thanks for this review. I just ordered one of these to be a secondary view for shots at my church. Our main is a Canon XA-55 filming in 1080p, and I knew the quality wouldn't be anywhere close, but thought this would be good for a side angle shot as we adjusted focus on the main. From what you showed, it should be close enough that I can use it to splice in to remove the zooming and jitter when someone is adjusting something on the main. Thanks a lot! God bless!

    I've used a vixia hf r800 for 2 years. It is a very compact, take anywhere camera. You can put it in your coat pocket and go. The stabilization is mechanical, in camera stabilization. The Optical zoom is 32X, beyond that it's digital zoom. I don't like digital zoom. With a wide angle attachment, it works well as a vlogging camera. For someone who needs a camera constantly on the move, I think a vixia is better than a SLR

    Hello, I’ve been streaming at my church also using my own DSLR equipment and looking to see if the canon hf r800 would be the perfect switch so I don’t have to bring all my equipment to church every Sunday. I’ve been looking to see if I can also find actual footage of a service and can’t seem to find one on KZread lol. If you have already used the camera to live stream, how is the footage?

  • @davebetts

    Hi Hector! Awesome to hear that you're using your DSLR equipment for church - you obviously have a great heart to serve your church. Love that! kzread.info/dash/bejne/qKt_wbmRprXPo9Y.html - Here's some footage from one of our services. For the budget, I think the quality is *fine*. Definitely not great, but not unbearably awful either. We're a small church of around 30, so for us, it works, but if you're a larger church you might not be happy with the quality (which would be justified). It suits us for where we're at at the moment. Let me know what you decide to go with! There might even be better options out there for the price point but for me it was the zoom capability and the familiarity of the set up (I'd used it in a previous church) that worked for me! Hope that helps. :D

    Thanks for the video, thumbs up! Question please: If recording for 1 or 2 hours, will the camcorder save the video as 1 single long file? Or will camcorder break up the video into smaller 4GB files? Also, this camcorder does have a 3.5mm microphone-in port, correct? If so, where do you place the external microphone since it has no hot/cold shoe?

  • @davebetts

    @davebetts

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hi! It splits it up into smaller files - I'm not sure exactly what size it splits it into though as we use it exclusively for live streaming. Yes, correct, 3.5mm mic-in port. Great question - again, because we use it for live streaming, we have only run audio from our sound desk into the computer and not used sound from the camera, so, unfortunately, I don't know. Sorry! I'm actually lending it to someone at the moment so I can't check, but I'll try and remember to take a look when we get it back!

    The camera has the ability to capture files that are 4GB in size or 29m 59s in length, whichever comes first. It does not record clips continuously like a tape would, it breaks them up into 4GB clips. I use a camera bracket to attach an external mic or light. I also bought a camera cold shoe mount and expoxied it to the top of the camera, that way I can mount things directly to the camera.

    Hi and thanks for creating this video. We use this camera at church and get different brightness results depending on the color of the pastor’s shirt. Does anyone know of a good video that tells how to set up this camcorder for church live streaming? Thanks.

    I just ordered this camera on Amazon for $199 US. I have a Canon DSLR but wanted the smoother zooming capability of a camcorder. I chose this one because of the zoom capability though I was tempted to buy one of those cheapo 4K camcorder from the China vendors but research of reviewers showed me they weren't worth it. I did look at one that Minolta puts out but found out they aren't the actual mfg and the absence of reviews for it made me skeptical. Chose the Canon Vixia HF R800 because of the zoom even though it is not 4k. For my church I had to stop using my Canon T6 because it began overheating so the church purchased the XA11. Only thing about the Vixia I am buying is it doesn't have a cold shoe on the top so I have to use a carry handle (cheap fake stabilizer from Amazon) so I can mount an external microphone. Thanks for making this video it was helpful.

    Hi Frank! Thanks so much for the encouragement. It depends what type of videos he wants to record. Do you know what he's planning? Without any information, my gut would be iPhone 11 over the HF R800, but it really does depend on whether you need that zoom or not I'd say. For our church context, the zoom was really important, but for the kind of videos I'm making, I just don't need the zoom so I'd go iPhone. Hope that helps!

Here's what I've got: Looking at the Cam Link 4k website (linked below) it makes a point of talking about 4k / 30fps or 1080p / 60 fps capability - which leads me to assume that the higher quality capture card, the higher the resolution/frame rate capabilities. The camera will only store the video in up to 30 minute blocks. You can record until the card is full but then you have to edit and splice the video to post it as a full clip. Its kinda annoying, but for the price its not that bad of a dea

    Good spot. To be fair I just left the settings on automatic - I'd have to check again when I next get the camera out but there might be some face detection settings or something close that would help it there. Probably not though! Yeah I think you're right there, unless you really are on a budget, in which case, this does a job (as long as you expect to compromise on quality a little). I'd say so. The zoom would be pretty helpful for sure, and the battery life is apparently good enough (though I've never tried filming for that long). The only thing to keep in mind is that the SD card splits one long video file into smaller ones (I think 30 min chunks but again, not 100% sure as that's not how we use it). Hope that helps!

    Parenting tip *babies bounce* They will roll off the couch. If you think that won't happen, it will. All your parents, it happened to you lol. So always, always, always, when they sleep on the couch and you have to move and turn away for a moment, put some pillows on the floor, because they will roll away.
