    Great video Joe! I own both the R5c and R3. The R3’s auto focus is exceptional. I shot two corporate videos last week on the R5c. You can only use the R5c when you have usbPD plugged in most of the time.(which I had the camera plugged into) People talk about the Cinema OS and how you need it. Honestly having false color and wave form are nice, but not necessary if you already are experienced exposing the camera, (using histogram, etc.) Also the cinema OS is really small font, it was designed with an external monitor in mind. The canon Photo OS is larger, different colors, it’s easier to navigate and is meant to be used on the little 3in monitor. If I could only keep one, R3 all the way.. and I only shoot video. Canon really needs to create a new cinema OS based on the photo OS design and layout. Now for shooting 8K anamorphic…R5C🤘🏼😬

    Hey Joe from the USA just purchase the Canon EOS R5c and you are correct about the battery life, so I purchase a FXlion Nano 2 98w Amount Batterie to solve that issue. I'm only using it when shooting Video and it just an added cost to the system that people should take in consideration when purchasing the Canon R5c

    Removing IBIS from the R5C was not crippling the camera. It was done for 2 reasons: one is, that is was necessary to cool the sensor, so it won't overheat and secondly nearly all Cine cameras don't have IBIS, so that the sensor doesn't get thrown off in action scenes with hefty movements and especially in automotive and similar recording scenarios. You will have massive image wobble with for example a Canon R5 in those situations, even if you turn IBIS off. The sensor can not be locked down, so it's always floating.

  • @johannesdoerr

    @johannesdoerr

    2 жыл бұрын

    I also have my concerns with the IBIS jumps that I see in my footage sometimes from the R6. I think IBIS is only usable if you want to mimic static shots when you don't have a tripod with you. These use cases exists probably far more often than car shots, at least for people who this hybrid camera is aimed for. IBIS with a way to lock the sensor would have been the best solution for a hybrid camera. Having that said, I bought the R5C and don't regret it at all.

  • @EmeraldAudiovisual

    @EmeraldAudiovisual

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@johannesdoerr The only one so far, that has implemented a way to fully lock the sensor down is Panasonic with the Panasonic Lumix S1H. Panasonic also has the best working IBIS on the market. They were early at it and it's much easier to handle with the smaller MFT sensors in the GH5 and onwards. Sony actually has worse IBIS issues than Canon (cracking IBIS hinges etc.), but it's worth to note, that the R5 and R6 were Canons first cameras to have IBIS. Only the R3, R5 and R6 currently have IBIS in the Canon lineup and nobody expected them to get it 100% right from day one. They still have lots to learn there. Either way, not having IBIS in a Canon body is generally a non-issue as a lot of Canons lenses have Lens-IS and the Digital IS used in the R5C and C70 are actually pretty good. Not having IBIS is only a problem for camera manufacturers that don't have stabilised lenses.

    Cinema camera are used for productions with a large crew and equipment to stabilize the shots. This kind of camera is made for those who work alone or with a very small team, who require light and fast filming. That's why an autofocus is important as well as the IBIS (it can help when you shoot handheld)… There is not just the action scenes to film. When you work alone, you can't or don't want to use a gimbal for several reasons or situations, you have to film handheld in 50mm, the IBIS can save your shot.

  • @EmeraldAudiovisual

    @EmeraldAudiovisual

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@peterra2532 That doesn't matter, if you can't cool the darn thing. Action shots wasn't the only reason. Canon removed IBIS because they could not cool the sensor sufficiently with IBIS in place.

    The R3 has a setting that allows you to change the font size of the menus. I wonder if thats hidden in the R5c somewhere as well. It's good to hear that a videographer has been able to work comfortably within that dynamic range. It's a all thing but I just love the flip out screen on the R3.

    reasons why the r5c is better for video. 1. Most likely you'll rig it, a 99w vmount battery runs a long time 2. Has 8k raw, 6k raw, and 3k raw 3. The raw is not "canon raw" like the r5 and r3, its "cinema raw".. better quality. 4. Face priority autofocus.. no hunting when a face leaves the screen. 5. The AF is smooth like a focus puller is using it, so speed isn't what they were going for there. 6. Waveforms, False Color, Zebras OH MYYYYY. You can have all 3 of them going at once, whereas the r5 and r3 you only get zebras or histogram before recording, once you record they disappear!!! Wtf is that about??? 7. Because of the sensor, you can utilize super35 lenses natively if you have other cinema glass that's super35 based. 8. Downsamples from the sensor in every mode (except 120fps I believe) 9. No overheating at all. 10. Literal cinema camera with an r5 built in! 45mp stills, 20fps a sec, all the goodies except ibis which you only really need for handheld slow shutter speeds. 11. Timecode 12. The custom button layout is insane, I never have to dig into menus to get anything I want. 13. Shutter angle! One button I switch to slow motion mode, and never have to remember to change the shutter speed. 14. Slow motion isn't just 60 or 120.. You can do 48, 60, 72, 96, 100, and 120. Wayyyy more options to set the exact slow motion you want. 15. If you shoot raw, you can translate to clog2 in Davinci if you want, so can better match other clog2 Canon cameras. The r3 is super dope don't get me wrong.. but the r5c is another beast in its own right. The dual photo/video structure is genius, and it represents a true hybrid in a world of halfway hybrids that combine functionality and make setting it up odd. When you're in video mode, that's all you get.. in stills, that's all you get. So much cleaner from a settings and operational standpoint!

My point is that it's a bit of a stretch to claim a camera is crippled because it doesn't have IBIS. Pros and cons with most cameras, depends how you work.
