Great vid. I love my r5

Fantastic recap on the R5; I’ve had the camera overheat on me.. a lot. Love the camera though (and no, not shooting 8k) so instead I invested in yes the Ninja V but when that’s too bulky, I had kolari vision install a heat sync, it’s AMAZING. Can’t wait to check out your podcast. Where do I find it?

Truly appreciate it 😁 I'm sure the R5 would've overheated on me as well if I pushed it to it's limits, but changing up the way I shoot (taking breaks/turning it off) really helped out and made my workflow easier. Another pain I used to have with the camera was editing the footage, but now with a lot of new computers coming out to handle 10 bit 4:2:2, it makes the process much easier! Also my podcast is called Brown Boys Theory! We talk about a bunch of stuff as college students and have fun conversations!

Can you tell me about your experience with the Kolari heat sync? Did it improve recording time and recovery time?

@@kobezhan yessir. It was a great investment, it doubled the amount of time before overheating and reduced by 50% my cool down time. It’s not a perfect solution by any stretch BUT it helps and has allowed me to get more time out of the R5, which is important. We shoot hybrid photo/video in hot environments at least two to three months out of the year. Even just shooting photos in hot environments I could watch my available recording time ticking down which stressed me out.

Im in a similar boat. have the r5c and looking to add a 2nd camera. either OG R5 or Lumix s5II / s5IIX. - bigger lean on video or r6II. but image on s5II looks so "cinematic" and smooth gradient falloffs.

Micro hdmi and 30 min record limit are the main reasons I have a Sony camera and an R5. I wish the A7iv was made by canon

I'm not too upset with having micro HDMI, I understand the limitations between them, but it's not a deal breaker for me. The record limit in 1080p or standard 4K is because those modes don't generate much heat in the camera and can record indefinitely with an external recorder. I also agree with A7IV if it was Canon, definitely a solid option for sure :/ But looking forward to the R5C which will be interesting for filmmakers!
