It's 8fps in continuous shooting. Autofocus has to be set to One-Shot and not Servo. It is incorrect that you have to press the shutter button manually each time.

Great video; I was excited about this camera. I currently use the 6d mk ii and have been dreaming of getting the 5d mk iv someday. Until this. But I think you’ve got a good point about holding out for another couple years. Nothing wrong with the camera I’m using now. 🙌🏻😍

Useful. So that the internal mic will not pick clicks when adjusting dial.

I still own a 5dm2 so for me this is the most obvious step to pick up this camera as an enthousiastic shooter, i don't mind the card slot, i' ve never lost my data on corrupted cards it was always recoverable but i won't suggest buying cheap cards :p Then the 4k issue isn't such a drama for me I was pleased to see that al my needs where furfilled Flip screen, eye focus, low light focus, bluethoot apps ... new features that really suprised me So i think it's up to you to decide what really matters, i'm looking forward to get to work with this baby Kind regards Kurt

Agree completely. I was anxiously awaiting this release and ready to buy. Even 120fps at 1080 might have been enough to get me there but there was simply too much missing. Looking at Sony now.

It is 8fps one shot, it means you can press the shutter once and keep shooting but with locked focus! it drops down to 5fps with servo mode! With the adaptors you can use Ef-S lenses too.

Also missing GPS, included in 5DIV and 1DXII.

My first camera was a mirrorless sony nex 5n, after that the a6000 and the 6300. I still remember all the nikon and Canon users critics about the mirrorless.

Like said here several times most people don't care about video at all. I have it in my Canon bodies but I don't use it a lot and 1080p 60fps is more than good enough for most of the users. If you are someone how shoots videos of wild animals, just meet a lady with the famous Canon EF 50-1000 (75000$), you will be happy to have 1.7 crop. So with a EF 600 F4 you can use 2x converter plus 1.7 crop and be at 2040mm with 4k and 10bit 4:2:2, cool. So what is bad for some is good for others. Together with DPAF a very cool camera for this use case. IBIS: Well I agree it would be nice but if you are happy with your Canon body today the EOS R brings you into the mirrorless world without all the pain if you change the system. Btw IS is to some degree eating optical performance so no wonder a 50mm f1.2 doesn't have it. Also IBIS is not painless. There is no technical solution which is trouble free! Same goes for AA filters and and. If you found out for your self IBIS is what you want, go for it but don't say camera x is s..... Would be the same if a Canon user would say a camera in 2018 without DFA what an old fashioned camera. What I don't get is the point why all new cameras need to have feature x? Or why people say this camera won't drag me from Sony, Fuji or what ever. The reason you bought a camera is because you want to take specific pictures. All this technical stuff IBIS, IS, EVF, ... is only here to aid you, in most cases it isn't the difference between a good photo and a bad. In one sentence: if I would dump all my Canon gear and switch to ARIII my photos won't be better in 99% of the case. So why should I do it? Only if this special feature x gives me the special advantage. The EOS R is a body which can please most of the 6D MKI and MKII users, the older 5D's and people who are coming up from a CROP like 80D. The body is cheap enough. The lenses are for the pros and they might give them the difference in picture look compared to a standard 50mm F1.4 or 50mm F1.8. So the only fault I can see on the EOS R is that Canon didn't put out a 5D MKV like thing with 50MPixel and all that what might be on your wish list. In the end they won't sell as much as with the cheaper EOS R body and most of you who complained that loud won't switch to Canon anyway. Let's wait and see.

Just am in the middle of transitioning to sony. First thought i made mistake but i am very happy with my a7III only the lenses are so expensive and the metabones i am somewhat dissapointed, so it is going to take a while before the transition is finished but that is ok... Have my 7d2 for wildlife tho.... but this i a 6d2 combined with a 5d4 and slammed againstvthe wall to make it fit

From what I understand you need an adapter for the USB Charging...I am a Canon 5D user as well as a Sony User - I love Canon but they keep using old technology - look at the 6D MKII - I am on the fence - not sure whether to go for the new Canon or the A7III. Canon new lenses are very expensive but then look at the prices of the G master lenses. I am on the fence at the moment. Great video yet again thank you.

It seems to me that Sony and Nikon have a "tilty" screen and Canon has a fully articulated screen.

Yea I think that’s what’s happening. I just wish they all can with some find of an articulating screen.

I think for studio shooters and the like where redundancy is not so important Nikon is the better deal especially with the cost for the canon lenses. But for a lot of photographers who now realise the negligible difference between full frame and crop, Fuji.... by no means perfect... seam at least to listen to their customer base! Nikon and Canon (4K Cropped) could do well to listen. As far as the Two card slot fiasco is concerned, the Camera Industry has led us into two card slots because it was wanted by all those who shouted at Sony who started with one. Another thing that could have easily been avoided by Nikon & Canon had they listened but, as we all know they only listen when they start to loose money. Im old and cynical. Jim

It doesn't seem to matter now as one of the big Nikon bosses at Photokina has just been recorded saying the Z series is not really aimed at the pro user. Canon will follow suit maybe? expensive bloody cameras and lenses for enthusiasts though! If that is the case bad marketing and just greed on behalf of these companies.

There's a hidden second card slot in EOS R. Is in your smartphone. Check the WiFi cpabilities.

Ed, why did you thank Sony for including usb charging about 6 minutes in? Whoops

$3000 for an unstabilized 28-70 f2 is F*#@ing crazy - and no IBIS. WTF!!!!!!

You can attach the EF 24-70 f2.8 and it would perform as a native lens and I’ve never have had issues shooting it without IS . And like all canon zoom lenses with IS perform very well. I never understood the fuss over IS on f1.4 primes

I guess if you see it as mainly a photographic camera however miriness is the best tech for video so I think they missed the mark. especially saying it should be part of you canon bag and not the only system. for me thats saying its not good enough to compare with other cameras. BUT.... give it another edition and they will nail it I hope.

Agree with you. 4K cropped and no 120 FPS on full hd is a no go. Sony just got a lot better and obviously the mirrorless leader.

I must admit I agree with all you said and I am glad I don’t have to many lenses for my canon as I feel mocked by this company I so much liked through the past few years. I like their menu better than nikon but i am willing to change as I feel they don’t care about me and the rest of us consumers. Unless they change all the issues before sales start I am not even willing To be seen with a canon camera anymore. Thank you for your tutorials and pls do some more. Love from Vienna Austria.

Thumbs up on your vid 👍- great delivery and content - but not the camera 👎. Really appreciate your studio photography perspective - missing from most other posts; shows that pros don’t all have the same needs and preferences. Lack of IBIS is a deal killer for me - limits usefulness of non-stabilized legacy lenses. To each his/her own re card slots (deal “wounder” here). Not mentioned in the vid, but I understand the camera has an AA low pass filter - negative in my book. Filter slot in adapter is a plus, but how about putting the slot in (newer) lenses, instead? Function ring on lens is a nice step up from on-lens function button, but field testing should reveal real-life utility. Canon still has much catching-up to do.

I agree. I think this is a somewhat disappointing launch.

Mirrorless is the feature as a canon shooter I believe in canon and canon lenses simply the best but wouldn’t but this new canon one simply no dual card slot 4K issues no usb charger and over priced for Main Street and not good enough for professional shoot

Canon does have in camera stabilization when in video. It’s digital stabilization but it’s better then nothing.

Chuck Eggen don’t have to tell me sorry. Why is everyone so mad!! It’s just a camera I use canon and think it’s a phenomenal camera. It’s not for me because of the one card slot. (wedding photographer) but I’m excited to see the next cameras to come out.

I would absolutely LOVE to have been able to do that. I didn't get an invite to the launch event so haven't had the opportunity to get my hands on it yet. I will have my hands on the Nikon Z7 tonight though. I hope to get my hands on the canon soon.

The crop is not an issue for vloggers at all. because you can add EF-S lenses on it! just put the Canon 10-18mm IS and you have a completely fine wide 17mm lens! and its even a super light lens! problem solved. kzread.info/dash/bejne/h6ykk8pyZ7zeXbw.html look here how kai is using it with this setup and it looks totally fine and wide in 4k

Correct. But then just shoot with the m50 or other m series. They already have a perfectly fine apsc mirrorless range. If you want to use full frame for photos then you will have to carry two sets of lenses otherwise you may as well stick to the m series.

Well according to the info in the white papers if you use ef-s lenses you can't even use Full HD 60fps. I saw it in another video as they were looking at the white papers.

It's the stupid CMOS sensor. It has its limitations.

Nikon and Canon made spectacular cameras.... for 2016. And Fuji is crop crap... If you want 2019, sadly there is still only one option. (Spoiler alert. the Canon auto focus is also 2016....)

I found that out tonight. Really awesome news.

Canon again crippling themselves. Was feeling bad for buying the M50 with this coming out, but there's a crop on this as well. You are essentially paying for the lens. I'll be sticking with my M50 and upgrading my glass/getting a hood. And don't give me that "they're protecting their cinema cameras" line either. Bullshit. Both Nikon and Canon believe the DSLR will still be around 10 years from now. Thus their committment to mirrorless is low like a pig to a mud puddle. Sony's pig is like a ham sandwich; the commitment is much higher.

Who would buy in at 5k Plus for 3 year old technology? Hopefully no one so they can stop getting away with putting out crap

Pros will buy it for sure, enthusiasts might if the have the cash, but wannabes are gonna stay gone and complain and not shoot... at all...

Aperture ring? What are you talking about Fuji has it in all of their lenses! Fuji XT3 sucker punched Nikon and Canon! It literally whooped their faces! Go watch the XT3 review! It will blow your mind for ONLY 1,500.00

Photos In Color I hear you! I shoot Canon (2-1DXii), Fuji and Hasselblad but I sincerely think this camera is rubbish. To me the difference between 35mm equivalent and cropped is negligible, so for outside work I shoot both and unless someone sees me working no one will know the camera. For studio well, no need to say.

Horrendous launch from Canon. Basically a 2016 tech and poor processing power for a mirrorless camera. No value in this camera in 2018. I'm a Canon shooter and I have decided to switch to Sony after this announcement.

Canon R CONS : NO IBIS No joy stick No proper weather sealing No 120fps @ 1080 No dual cards and no XQD OR EXPRESS No A/F. - linked Spot metering !! 350Shots PER Battery 3FPS Servo OLD SENSOR Crappy video codecs There is a 1.6x crop mode to use EF-S lenses NO EYE AF in C.AF 4K WITH 1.7 Crop+Rolling Shutter Heavy+Expensive NON STABILIZED Lenses 400$ Converter really?? Expensive BODY Vs SONY/Nikon (2300$ vs 2000$) LOCKED MOUNT (Sony mount is unlocked, so plenty of third party lenses are native like with AF)

I waned this camera to be good, but it's shit. 😐

Best thing: Lenses except for the high price Bad thing: IBIS is absent. People already have cameras which can do most of the things which Canon R can do. So for me as well, it was not upto the mark. Mirrorless are supposed to be fast but Canon EOS R isn't.

Canon no Stabilization…. Holy Junk. I am so disappointed. Angry. Cannon and Nikon Mirrorless are simply not an option :(

While I can see you point here i am not sure you are completely correct. The new canon mirrorless range is not supposed to be just a stills camera. It has been made for video work as well. It has dpaf if video mode peaking etc. this would only exist if it were made for video. If this were a photo camera only then I would agree with you. But that’s not how it’s been marketed.

There should be "sponsored by canon" title. Why all the other reviewers can be neutral and you're seeing just the positives? This video is an add not a real review.

Did you watch the video? I pointed out soooo many things that they missed. No Ibis. 4K in crop. Single card issue for some but not me.

Canon eos R is an overpriced camera. It's not better than sony ff mirrorless camera.
