Despite not finding any information on the internet about this specific feature, my familiarity with the camera leads me to believe otherwise. The impressive speed at which the 80D focuses in video mode, even with 3 or 10x digital zoom enabled, strongly suggests that Dual Pixel AF is indeed active.

    Gonna pick one up in a few hours. Was going to get a 77d mainly for the higher ISO options. The weather sealing is dropped wich is not a problem for me. However, yesterday i looked into a battery grip wich my 550d has had installed for about 10 years. And the 77D just does not support a proper one. That is such a dealbreaker for me. So, 80d it is. Excited to get a "new" body after so many years. 550d is going to my daughter for her 8th bday. Yeah she's young for a dslr. But why get a lesser one if ican find an excuse to get her something decent while upgrading myself. :P But in short. Nobody talks about the options for battery grip. But once i had one i knew i will always want one. Not having the option to install it later would be really annoying to find out after a purchase.

    There is a point when it is a good idea to own a full frame camera - when you think the moment arrived, you can`t go wrong with that decision. The built-in flash, I agree, is a bit goofy. What`s surprising... even the 90D has one. In the last 10 years, I barely touched built-in flashes - only used external ones.

    I have Canon 80D dslr camera, it is a decent camera for photography. Recently I started thinking to do vlogging and had encountered some issues. For instance, canon 80D is a bulky and heavy to do vlog and youtube videos. I don't know what kind of tripod, or any other accessory to buy to record selfie videos while walking at the streets. Maybe Sony EV-10 is a good choice for youtube and vlog, i am in frustration. Should I buy Sony EV-10 or stay with 80d and figure out how to deal with tripods and stabilizers.

  • @apertureatlas

    @apertureatlas

    From what I know, many famous KZreadrs used the 80D, it is a great camera, but, indeed, it is quite big and heavy. If you are doing vlogs and talk, mostly, inside the house, putting b-roll on top of what you`re saying, the 80D is fine - you just leave it on a tripod. But if you`re carrying it everywhere and film yourself on the go, it`s better to just get that Sony EV-10 (that has a lighter body and lenses).

    For this camera, I believe this is not possible. I haven't seen Canon 80D photos with date and time on them, set, by default, by the camera. Please also search on Google words like : "How do I add the date and time to my pictures?" or " How do I add the date and time to my pictures? canon" . There are some articles there, but didn't found anything specifically about the Canon 80D. Look at the articles, look at your camera's menu carefully - if its nothing there, in the menu, with "Date Stamp" it probably doesn't have it.

APS-C is still my favourite choice for light trips, combined with pancakes 24 and 40, perfect combo for me... 7D stopped to fit my needs mainly because of missing touch control and swivel screen, but is still capable and producing nice photos in good light condition... FF is definitely better, better colors, better details

    I also had a 7D, years ago. It was a great camera for its time (released in 2009). It brings nostalgia now, when I think of it. The missing touch control and swivel screen was also the reason why I replaced it. The 80D is great, but, indeed, a modern FF camera will always bring better images when comparing it to an APS-C.

  • @apertureatlas

    @apertureatlas

    Жыл бұрын

    $460 is a fair price for a used 80D, just make sure that camera has a low shuttercount. It should have under 100k shots - as much as possible. For most cameras, the manufacturers promise a shutter lifespan of (at least) 100k shots. If it has 30k or 60k it is ok (ask the seller). When it comes to image quality, the A6100 is a bit better than the 80D (A6100 is a more recent camera). The A6100 is also more portable, smaller - but when it comes to photos, the lens is as important as the camera. Both cameras are good, you can`t go wrong with them, but for portraits at home (having less space to move around), you should have two lenses: the 50mm and another wide angle lens. Here, for the Canon camera, there are cheaper (and easier to find used) lenses. These are my thoughts. Hope they help!

  • @apertureatlas

    @apertureatlas

    Жыл бұрын

    If the 80D is your first camera, that`s a good start! My first ever camera didn`t even record video. For what you need, there are 3 main things to consider with the 80D: 1. It has a bigger body/heavier body than a mirrorless camera (if you are planning to film for long, better get a mirrorless camera) 2. No 4k recording (if you really need it), but you can do some upscaling in postprocessing 3. Weather-sealed body - if you`re shooting in harsh conditions, you won`t find a cheaper good camera (I assume that you are buying a used 80D) For video, I would personally get the cheapest-good option out there: A Canon R10 (the price dropped a bit, it has 4k, 10bit video, but no weather sealing) + EF to EOS R mount adapter (that allows me to mount cheaper dslr lenses on it). In my opinion, Canon has the best colors and the most reliable focusing system. Look at your budget and needs and then choose. Either way, both are good.

    Love mine but it is showing its age now ie noise at higher iso and no 4k

    Yes, it has its limitations on noise because of the crop sensor, but it shows good results at ISOs up to 1250. The lack of 4k, now available on the 90D, can be "fixed" with a good video editor like Da Vinci Resolve`s Super Scale function. It works great for upscaling Full HD videos to 4k.

    What I don't like is because it is very heavy

    Yes, 730g. For today's standards, it is a bit heavy, considering how much less APS-C mirrorless cameras weigh. However, at least it is not as heavy as the 5D Mark II (904g).

    poor audio man, sucks. i can barely hear you at 40% volume while other vloggers' video audio are loud enough and clear at the same level. i needed to turn up my volume at 95% to match others' audio.

    Kurt, thank you very much for mentioning this, it helps! I suspected that I was too cautious with my audio levels, not to make them too loud/distorted. For future videos, I will bump them up a little.

    @@apertureatlas great response man. subbed. if the audio in videos in youtube are loud, there are tons of ways for the viewers to adjust to that. having A large headroom for volume is better.

    The Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 STM is a nice choice. You can also buy a lot of good used lenses at a cheap price nowadays.
