    Great tips Ben, pretty much the same for the M50 (although the controls might be slightly different). I do shoot in low light and have to bump the ISO a fair bit sometimes. I normally shoot at f/8 or f/11 and 1/125 second (at 60fps). In low light I often shift to 30 fps and 1/60 or even 1/30 second and f/4 to avoid noise as much as I can (but sometimes it's unavoidable). Thanks for sharing

    I just got the Canon 90d, I'm very new to DSLR'S. For filming; do I only use Auto (A+) or M modes? Also, I'm noticing I have a orangey hue on my video, what am I doing wrong? I've been filming in TV mode, there's no way to adjust shutter speed. I'm only able to increase or decrease exposure. Also, I have noticed the lighting shifts periodically, do I need to do a white balance? Thank you for your help

  • @PSTUTORIALSTV

    @PSTUTORIALSTV

    4 жыл бұрын

    Hi Shereen, thank you for watching. When filming video always have it in manual mode. The reason I say this is because you will always want to make your shutter speed double the number of your fps ( If your shooting 24fps, then shutter speed should be 1/50) A good trick is to put your iso on auto mode, this will ensure you dont have lighting shifts :) As far as the orange hue, I would think that is your white balance mode. Go to your white balance setting and try each setting until the orange hue goes. I hope that has helped :)

  • @PSTUTORIALSTV

    @PSTUTORIALSTV

    4 жыл бұрын

    @@CookingwithShereen if your aperture is low like f4 or f2, then what ever you are focusing on will be in focus and the background behind it will look out of focus (this will make what ever you focus on stand out more) If your aperture is high at say f14 then everything you are recording will be in focus. A low aperture lets more light into your camera and a high aperture lets less light in to your camera.

    I would have recommended the 80d all the time for this a while a go. But both the M50 and the 250d are cheaper and offer just as much, if not more. They are also smaller and more portable. I did a review on the 250d recently. Great camera, fantastic focus, small and has access to Canons cheaper yet very impressive lenses, its also £250 cheaper than the 80d. I hope this helps and thanks for watching 😊

    I record video of school plays in a theater and I have such an awful time. The theater is dark, lights come up and the image blooms. Then it struggles to focus and I can’t get a nice stable video short of manual settings UNTIL the scene changes. I’m so frustrated and could use advice on how to record a play on a tripod with the nifty 50 lens. I don’t know how to get help with this. I have some of the videos I made on my KZread channel and some of it is embarrassing.

  • @PSTUTORIALSTV

    @PSTUTORIALSTV

    It is very difficult to answer this, as I wouldn't be there with you and therefore I would not be able to know the light on the day. As a rule of thumb, go for 24fps a shutter speed of 1/50, a low aperture number, and use your iso to see if you can get enough light sensitivity from an iso of not above 800, if so set your iso to auto, as the light may change if there are windows letting in natrual light, and this will give you the best even light. Thanks for watching by the way, and best of luck on the day! 😊

    I enjoy shooting both stills and video of air shows, specifically WWII warbirds. Here’s my settings for both. For video use 24 f/sec (cinema look) and shutter speed of 1/50th sec. Shutter speed should be twice the frame rate. ISO is auto and aperture f 8 or 11. It’s essential to keep the shutter speed low to avoid that horrible rolling shutter effect that digital video cameras are prone to. For stills again keep the shutter speed low 1/60th to 1/350th. You want that nice prop “spin effect”. For stills it takes practice to get a decent sharp image at lower shutter speeds. Image stabilization helps somewhat. Warbirds in flight take shutter speed up to 1/250 to 1/350th. Taxiing drop it down to 1/60th to 1/125th.

    Hi David, this is a good question, unfortunately because I don't own the 80d anymore, it is difficult to remember. When shooting video I would use the histogram as my exposure guide, which if I remember right displays on the screen as your filming video. Otherwise does your exposure meter display on your top down screen as your shooting video? I am sorry I can not give you a more definitive answer on this.

    That tripod link in bio not suited for canon 80d it only supports 4lbs, you can't shoot outdoor with that

    Hi Sanjay, thank you for getting in touch, its the tripod that I use for my Canon 80d, I regularly use it with my 70-300mm lens, and its never let me down. In truth when I got the tripod I didn't notice its weight requirments..but from my experience it is definitely suitable. Thanks for watching and getting in touch

    I can operate the camera just fine but am a complete dinosaur on computer......... I don’t own any editing programs because I wouldn’t have a clue how to use one. I just take little 20 or 30 second video clips of black bears , I watch the clips and then delete them. Computer is impossible for many of us senior citizens. 😥

    23. Frame Rate...is, not, avaliable in PAL. Not pointing this out to individuals not well informed, is bad show! Terrible teaching... "Video"
