    Viewers view images, not cameras. I bought one in July 2021. When images shot with this camera is placed side by side with EOS R5 or Sony A1 images; no one is going to be able to tell which image is from which camera. Moreover, images captured with 5D Classic will stand out and shine to impress real lovers of quality images. I love and use it every day.

    @@ericjhaber, the answer lies in your question. "so many people rave about" is the catch phrase. Kindly note, if something is claimed by a large portion of users; it is always fully or partly true. Otherwise, that idea wouldn't have been around. I own six Canon DSLRs. None of those produce the lovely smooth filmic look that 5D Classic produces. Also please note, digital is always too clear and crisp kind of, synthetic. But the 5D Classic images are very much organic.

    I have a 5D Classic and I use it regularly (though not as primary camera). I like it very much but if I were to have a complaint, it would be the poor quality of the LCD display on the back. The LCD is simply terrible.

    @@msbrownbeast a good quality LCD isn’t really necessary since there is no live view. I get your point, but it’s not Canon’s fault - it was the best screen at the time. Not a valid complaint.

    I love the 5D. Image quality in subsequent cameras hasn't gotten any better, in fact the 5D has a timeless look and color science that blows away pretty much everything else in the digital photography space. What you do get with newer gear are more features that might make your work flow a bit more convenient (so, what?), higher iso (which really is irrelevant), more megapixels (again, irrelevant), and video capabilities. For pure photography, there really isn't anything in the same league as the 5D still, nearly twenty years after it was released. I highly recommend to anyone that has a 5D to pick up another one (two or three is even better!) and put it away in storage just in case something malfunctions on the one you have. The value for the price is unbeatable.

    Good video. That camera is still my favorite for portraiture. Even with the simple and inexpensive 50mm f1.8 lens, the 5D can produce amazing portraits. After that, I'd say the 6D classic comes next. I've compared them against my Sony a7RII and my Canon R. The 5D simply produces a more pleasant portrait. I love it and own three. Combine a 5D with one of the old L-series lenses (fast or not) and you've got a winning combination. Thanks for sharing this video.

    Hi Gavin. I agree with everything you've said during this video. The majority of people will take nice, everyday photos and this camera is good for that. However, it's also a good stepping stone to the next level of photography if you want to get a bit more serious about taking pictures. Finally, and regardless of how robust those older cameras might be, you have gone outside and shot without a strap on the camera!!! that's like cyclists who don't wear protective helmets, doh. A superb and pretty much the crop sensor version of the 5D is the Canon 30D which can be bought for £50 and less depending on condition. Gives lovely images and the body is almost identical with same layout and screen. Also doesn't have the dreaded mirror problem of the 5D. I never tried one of these though I'm really curious. By today's standards, a 12.8 megapixel sensor is considered extremely low resolution; however, I was just going through some photos I took back in 2015 with a Nikon D90 which has a 12mp sensor and the bottom line is that a good picture is a good picture! Looking at the photos on my 1080P monitor they were more than good and I could see a lot of details. I started learning photography properly with a Canon 5D MKII back in 2011 but I was always intrigued by the first 5D which started the prosumer lineup of digital bodies from Canon. Nice pic BTW.

  • @kaminobatto

    @kaminobatto

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@sauravbasu8805 it stacks up very well as long as you're shooting at ISO 1600 max, otherwise, there is excessive grain (I find images taken ISO 3200 unusable, at least IMO). As for the colors, I am a fan of Canon colors, so if you plan to get your exposure right as much as you can while shooting (I would not recommend pulling highlights or shadows in post beyond 1 to 2 stops max to get a clean file) and you don't need to shoot with fast shutter speeds in low light or don't mind the other limitations like the lack of IBIS and a basic autofocus system, then this thing is still capable of taking award winning photos and deliver great results time and time again! Provided you get a good deal (I wouldn't pay more than $450 for a super clean and a relatively low shutter count body, the shutter is tested for 150k actuations, although it might continue to work beyond that).

    That’s where my full frame journey started. Loved my 5D, realised quite quickly that the 17-40mm was a bit unnecessary, especially since the AF is just not great. 1Ds mkII is an interesting low cost option for full frame wildlife, really felt the difference using the AF on that, actually the 5D3 is meant to have better AF (from the 1DX) yet doesn’t feel as crisp as the 45-point system of the older 1-series.
