I have this lens, and I use it a lot for client corporate video work and personal projects too. Amazing lens with character.

I have this same Len's it's the second version from 1966 im pretty new to photography overall but i found when was shooting with this lens on my EOSm5 that it helped a lot to shoot in monochrome. because a lot of these old lens were built for B&W film

There’s actually 3 versions of the type 1, though it’s very hard to find specific info on the optical differences. The first type 1 with serial numbers of 1**** also have a radioactive thorium element. Type 1’s can be identified with the AM ring sitting behind the silver aperture ring.

I shoot this occasionally. I like it but don’t love it as much as i thought i would. Mine is my fathers who purchased it in japan in 1966 and used it during vietnam war . Post 1970 or so it was stowed away in storage as he moved on to Nikon. I found all his old vintage canon lenses when i was getting bored with new lenses from sony for my a7 series. Again, i only shoot b+W raw even with new lenses so a lot of the fringing issues i never seem to really pick up on. I have noticed significant magenta flinging when i do switch over but i prefer to keep it mono. I had really high hopes for this due to how fast it is but to be honest, just didn’t do enough for me and kinda sits on the wall. Ill further add that ive noticed with these older canon lenses 40+ years old, ,the focus peaking for some reason seems to be off slightly on the a7 series .

I just tested mine at 18.3 - 18.5 µSv/h (rear element) with a SOEKS 112 geiger meter. The radioactive version (my serial 27XXX) is definitely a hot lens!!

@@gojoe8695 I primarily bought for my old F-1, but it'll be interesting to see what it can do on mirrorless too!

Lens is plenty sharp. A little low in contrast but good color. I would say over all a good lens with little to fault
