I do two things different the times i haved mounted Cannons on my boats. If you turn the baseplase 90 degrees the litle handle for rotateting the dowrigger, dosnt stick inside the boat. And i cut of about 10 inches of each section of the boom, because i have never had the use for the long booms. Its nicer for me to get the weight a litle closer to the boat.

I have seen guys turn the handle.. but it’s never bothered me having it facing in the boat. I never extended the boom either.. only used to do it a little for Kokanee or trout trolling on my old boat.. but I’m sure I won’t ever extend it here in Florida. I am about to make a video of swapping out the cable for braid.. mine is manual so no need to worry about the auto up feature.. the cable is already messed up! Thanks for watching and commenting! Great job! What about the wiring? I have a Tidewater. Mechanical installation would be much like this. I wonder how I get wiring from center console batteries to the gunnal. I could not see your wires. Thank you.

So the best way I’ve seen is kinda hard to describe but I’ll try my best! You will need to have someone who can weld aluminum.. use either round or square stock aluminum and you will need flat aluminum as well. You will make a flat mount plate and bolt it though the floor. The the round or square stock up to the top of the railing. Then another flat plate welded to the stock and also bolted through the railing but on that pice on top is where you mount the base for the down rigger . I hope that makes sense .. I wish I could draw it out for you it would make more sense ..

I was in the Sacramento area before but yes! Its a big upgrade I’d say! Very different lifestyle out here! Still getting used to it! I do miss my family and friends and our fishing back in Northern California but I’m learning more about the fisheries out here every time I go out!
