Great show and very interesting interview. I am a big fan of Stephen Gray, he has had a big influence in my spirtual practice. As a shamanic practitioner I have used cannabis for over 20 years. In the beginning I used it as a sacrament solely for myself and my close friends. However, with the changing legal and moral status that has effected cannabis in recent years, I have started offering it to more of my clients. We need more Cannabis positive spiritual podcasts out there. I am happy to have discovered Wake and Bake.

For sure. There is a real need for this type of conversation and education around the spiritual side of the plant.

I’ve heard that it keeps you in 4D and if you already have a higher level of consciousness it can lower your vibration. For me personally I never have this experience even after weeks of no use and my level of consciousness is high from my energy work, Reiki, meditation yoga practises, all supporting my awakening 🙏. Always wondered how this theory of it keeping you in 4D was formed 🧐. What are your thoughts? My spiritual teacher also said it can destabilize and blocks the nadis. But again for me personally I feel it actually opening my energy centres 🤷 I have a healthy relationship with MJ btw with no dependancy and one pure joint lasts me 2 weeks 🙏

It wild how common these beliefs are, but - no - I have no idea where the idea came from. I was told in my yoga teacher training that it "strengthens the veil of Maya". My guess is that it's a reaction to people who were overconsuming cannabis as part of spiritual practices in the 60's and 70's. It's so interesting to me that there's so much talk about this in the world of spiritual practices, even though so many of us have had experiences to the contrary. I do believe whether or not cannabis turns you on or shuts you down is dependent on dose, ingestion method, setting, cannabinoid ratio, level of experience and frequency. I've had experiences where cannabis has shut me down energetically, but all of those were times when I was becoming habituated or when the dose was too strong. I've also had deeply transformative and highly spiritual experiences when the dose was too strong or I was using cannabis consistently internally. Part of me really feels like it's a lack of education about what cannabis is and also what spirituality is. Does CBD or CBG block the nadis or just THC? Is it smoking or edibles that strengthens the veil of Maya? Is the "spirituality" based on a purist perspective whereby to be spiritual you should consume no stimulants, intoxicants, relaxants, etc (and if so... do plants that make you feel different like maca, ashwaganda, and chamomile also fall under this category)? Ultimately, spiritual teachers, traditions, and guides are lovely, because they can help provide the map to spirit. But spirituality is discovered using the inner compass of feeling and experience. If you use cannabis and feel like your nadis are spinning, compassion is growing, and you can see through the veil, then it sounds like a very effective spiritual tool.
