Candlepin Bowling - Pete Pereira vs. Tom Olszta

Спорт

(Re-uploaded in better quality and in one piece) Air date: 2/19/1994. This was the 21st week of Tom Olszta's historic run during the 1993-1994 season of Candlepin Bowling on Channel 5, with this particular show featuring Tom taking on Pete Pereira, who was making his first appearance on the show in 4 years.
This was a great match the whole way through, as both bowlers made some great shots (ESPECIALLY from Pete at 7:49) that led to a close finish throughout the final game.
Hope you all enjoy :)

    @@ethanlevy8778 no not at all.Berger was as good as Tom but Tom did it for a longer period of time. I think the Berger 500 was amazing.The greatest match was the Holbrook vs Tommy. Tommy rolled 3 strikes in a row to win the match.428-422.

    Since I saw the Olszta vs Mike Morgan match (Win #1 in the streak) was uploaded recently, I decided to go back and watch/rewatch every match I could find in order, including the Championship show. There were a few matches missing along the way, but I'm sure I'm not the only one who is looking for the match following this week against Peter Surette, and then the final match vs Fran Onorato. Since reading Tom sent in some tapes, does that mean we will get to see those soon? For anyone else wondering, the others missing/not yet uploaded or found from this incredible 23 week run are: Wk 5 vs Jim Putney Wk 8 vs Lee Buskey (only 2nd half of the match is online) Wk 9 vs Bill Treeful Wk 10 vs Wayne Dennen Wk 11 vs John Miller Wk 17 vs Glenn LeBlanc Wk 18 vs Rick Bourassa Wk 22 vs Peter Surette Wk 23 vs Fran Onorato Hope to see these someday if anyone out there has them!

    Hey Woodman... How do you obtain these videos? I was on the channel 5 show vs. Tom. I think it was 1988. It was the last show of the season and Tom qualified for the final show vs me. It was a good match until the third strong when I got blown away. I would love to see it posted on youtube. Can you help or tell me how I could get it?

    Does anyone know why they're not required to alternate lanes in string 2?

  • @weevie833

    @weevie833

    A good question, since this would be unthinkable in tenpins. Tom Olszta tends to bowl so quickly that the only way to slow him down is to make the bowlers do both of their boxes on the same lane, which requires waiting for the pins to reset. Otherwise, they would finish the three strings with 15 minutes leftover to fill with boring interview fluff.

    It depends on time. If they are running ahead of schedule they have you stay on the same lane as it slows things down as you have to wait for the reset of the pins.
