Candle Vessels with AQUA CAST - An Eco Resin with a TWIST! Brand New Casting Compound!
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
In today’s video I will be testing out a brand new casting compound from @Elichem Resins called Aqua Cast. It has everything that is in two part casting compounds such as Hydroflow or Jesmonite but it has been magically fused together so that all the magic from the activator is in the powder so all you have to do is add tap water and mix! Today you will see me make a candle vessel and matchstick pot.

Hi Louise, I've been sculpting and casting for about 60 years, and in the early days I was troubled by bubbles, same as you. I had an old electric shaver (the Braun type) and found that if you flip the cutting head off you'll find that three oscillating prongs stick out. I switched it on and touched it to the side of the mould, and voila!, all the entrapped air bubbles flew to the surface, where I just blew at them. They disappeared instantly. I now have several vibratory tools, including one from Hitachi, called the "magic wand". This is more powerfull, and, for even larger moulds I use an old black and decker square sander, which, once again, just touched to the side of, even a large mould, makes all the trapped air disappear from the casting instantly, leaving a perfect surface. These tools can also be used with a wire strainer (the type used to sift flour) to sift the powder into the water, by, once again just touching the vibrating machine to the strainer rim. You will then find mixing without lumps forming is a doddle. Hope this helps you. David

@@LouiseSingletonCreations - I have just started using my little mixing thing that is designed for frothing milk (it's an AeroLatte - mooo) Turn it on and just kind of bounce it on & off the sides. Did it on a couple of tea light holders with Aqua Cast in them & I think I only got one air bubble in one of them !

Wow, this stuff is great, Lou! Wondering if I can afford the shipping to the US... I had to laugh at myself when I "discovered" this new video... *days* after it posted! I kept haunting your channel, wondering when you were going to post another. I'd completely forgotten that I had set the video option to "oldest" a good 2 weeks ago, so that I could watch the ones I had somehow missed. :snicker! Joke's on me...I was haunting the wrong end! 😅 Had I not figured it out, I would still be wondering if you were ever going to make another video! {giggle}
Hi there😊. I just discovered your videos and I’m thrilled. So much great content! I’m wondering if the candle smut turns the pot a blackish color on sides when burning? And how easy would it clean off? Thanks so much for all your videos😊😊

Hi, great video and beautiful products. Can I ask, after sealing the inside of the candle holder and burning the candle did any of the wax leak through to the outside of the vessel? I have been interested in using the sealer you used but was tentative in trying it as I hadn't known anyone else to use it as a candle pot sealer, any feedback is appreciated 🙂

Жыл бұрын
Hi, sorry for the late reply. To be quite honest with you, although I love making candle vessels I’m not very experienced in the sealing side of it. Sometimes I seal the inside and sometimes I don’t bother at all but what I can say is, I have never had the wax leak through the vessel, I didn’t even know that was possible 😮 Sorry I couldn’t be more helpful.

Жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks so much for replying. Yes I have made concrete candles where when testing initially the vessels weren't sealed at all and the wax leaked through from the inside to the outside wall and left unsightly wax stains, so I now at least seal the inside. Love the videos BTW I have become quite an avid watcher :)
Louise where did you get the black pigment you used please xx

I think it was Jesmonite pigment. I got a bunch of pigments second hand off eBay and they weren’t in the original packaging but it was advertised as Jesmonite pigment.
Sorry I meant to add that I was wondering about the product that you use to release the molds as well the mold release I don't know what it's called when I'm trying to search it

Have you tried Activa Permastone? I'm curious how they might compare. Similar concept - a powder to which you just add water. My biggest issue with the Permastone is how quick the cure time is. You only have about 5 minutes before it starts to thicken and set.
