Candid Conversations: When A Child Is Heading In A Negative Direction | Joyce Meyer

Most people have heard the old phrase, “little children - little problems; big children - big problems.” In this episode of Candid Conversations with Joyce, Joyce and Ginger take a more serious path as they discuss the twists and turns of godly parenting. Find out what Joyce has to say concerning children who go their own way, the heartbreak that can follow for both parents and children, and how to keep your peace and follow God’s plan for your life, while allowing your children the freedom God gives them in their own life.

Being a parent is the hardest thing…you can try your best but you’ll never be perfect. My son is very intelligent, he’s saved and is a prodical son. It’s been eight years since I’ve seen him in person. I feel like he’s doing well in life and will be very successful. Heard his voice 5yrs ago. He was very angry disrespectfully asking for money. Said if I didn’t get him money I would hear from him again. I pray for him when he’s on my mind. This year he will be 30yo. I pray that he heals and we reconnect on earth and in heaven. Thank you. It’s hard to live like he never existed Prayers for all parents going up. Protect them all in Jesus’s name ✝️🙏🏽💜

@@timohara7717 Okay, I understand now. I am sorry I just assumed you were Christian. Basically, Jesus doesn't want us to sue anyone but to forgive them as He forgives us...when we don't deserve it...because that is what mercy and grace is. He also doesn't want us to judge anyone because He Himself doesn't judge us. "Judge not lest ye be judged". I am guilty of doing that to you and I apologize. If her son committed a crime, then it isn't stupid of the police to arrest him. She never said anything to the contrary to indicate he was wrongfully imprisoned. Hoping that the police are stupid is a dangerous and unethical thing to do. If you are wondering if Jesus is alive and real and loves you, personally, I invite you to ask Him directly to prove it. :)

I'm 39 years old and one thing I remember as a teenager was the constant nagging from my mother and I wasn't even a rebellious teenager. Like so many parents it was my mother that was having her own personal issues and taking it out on the children by using certain behaviors from the kids as an excuse to yell at us. But thinking back on those days from what myself, friends, and school mates went through with their mothers as well was they were very bad on timing when confronting us about any issues. Which is something we've all talked about in today's time. And we were all Christians growing up in Christian homes. But I think one of the things a lot of parents don't realize is timing and how you approach a situation when dealing with your children. One of the main reasons why parents have such a hard time with their kids is because the parents behavior is out of balance as well. Now I'm not making excuses for bad behavior from children, but teenagers have a lot to deal with and go through many changes. And when they come home to constant nagging from their parents and how they're always doing everything wrong, it never improves the situation. I remember many days I would drive home from school, pull up to the house and sit in my car not wanting to go inside. Simply because I knew as soon as I walked in the door the fight and nagging was on. Which then would make me angry and start to yell and scream back. That's one reason why I say to young parents or people who want children, go to God in prayer FIRST and ask him to do whatever work needs to be done in you before you even have children. So many Christian parents wait until their children become teenagers who end up slamming the door in their face and calling them every name in the book from the other side before they say ok it's time to pray about this. But then you also have the other side when a parent blames themself for their child's bad behavior. So now the parent is angry with themself but takes that anger out on their child instead of dealing with themself personally about it and going to God. So now you have all of this anger and frustration in the home because the parent is upset with their way of parenting but they won't come out and say it. Then it all ends up being the children's fault.

This is soo sad. All I can say is, the mortal blows and wounds I am dealt come from PROFESSING Christian. Remember Jesus said there would be wheat and tares in the church, true believers and false believers. A true Christian walking in the Spirit would not behave this way with their children. These stories of adult kids still needing financial support and being rude to their mom are a whole different thing. These are the kids spoken of in II Timothy 3:1-5. Pure narcissism. I’m truly sorry for the insensitive treatment you received from your mother. Perhaps she was not a believer or a carnal one. Who knows. If I were you, I would explain to her what you went through. Maybe she will seek your forgiveness, which will help you to forgive her. So you can have peace.

This was such a great message I had to take out pen and paper and take notes!! I have 3 children 29 girl 24 boy and 12 boy. The 29 is doing her own thing and living her life. It sometimes makes me sad that she only choose to visit once a year. The 24 yr old boy still live with is mom. We work together to live in this high price economy we are in so he works goes to school online and helps pay bills. We get into it a lot because I am afraid that he had harbored feeling of his dad and I divorce over 20 yrs ago. He has become negative about women and his point of view is tarnished because of KZread and the things he chooses to believe. I have raised him in the fear of the Lord from birth. Lately we have been on the silent treatment side because I feel his views and my views are not the same. I have been praying about having a talk with of him moving out. This message has help me so much because I feel I have play a role in not letting go of the way I grew up. Family 1st. These children are different than we were. I would like to ask for prayer. As Joyce said in this video we tend to make things about ourselves. I think I have put pressure on my children to prove they love me. I think because I miss my mom that passed 6 yrs ago I am lonely. I have to brothers that are astrange and pick and choose when they want to be a family. It has weighed my ❤️ down.

I wish that the only problem I had with my daughter was that she was a perfectionist... Instead, my 21-year-old daughter has been in and out of mental facilities and rehab facilities. I kicked her out nearly 2 months ago and I've only seen her briefly two times. She has spiraled downward and has contemplated suicide. I don't sleep, I don't eat...and most days I'm just a numb zombie praying relentlessly and waiting. I know God says not to worry, but it's the hardest thing any parent should ever have to deal with. It's out of my control so I have nothing else to do but trust in God. It's so hard. I would trade places with her without hesitation. I just want my baby happy and safe.

Beautiful words of encouragement that I needed to hear. I'm praying that my 30-year-old son who spent his entire twenties in prison will except Jesus Christ as his Lord Savior and King. And for all that anger , hurt and pain and depression and the thoughts of suicide will leave him and that he will be able to have peace and joy once again.

This message gives me hope. I have 4 children: 2 teenagers and 2 under 10. The teenagers are very difficult and disrespectful. Please pray for me. I pray since years and cannot see any change but it is all in God's timing, not mine. The problem is that I get very angry and say horrible things to them in return so I also need prayers. I trust in God❤

He has more attention from me than any other child. He literally tried set our house on fire again, tonight. He is 7!!!!! We have tried everything we have known to try. Nothing is working. I am ready to ship him off to boarding school. I DON’T KNOW WHAT ELSE TO DO!!!!! I have prayed so many times and nothing has changed. His back talk and tone is horridness.I keep turning to God and nothing is changing!

Did i write this comment bc i was feeling this exact thing 2yrs ago?!? When my son was acting like this at that same age, it was because he had ring of fire ADHD.. later diagnosed additionally with schizo affective disorder and ODD through a mental health hospital several times. He's 18 now, finally on Haldol injection, and still struggling, our household was torn apart, i got evicted for him cursing out the neighbors but now, with meds, he's calmer, and we're finally able to communicate again after almost 2yrs of him raging on ppl in and outside of the house.

My son is on the wrong path. He has a child with his long time girlfriend of 4 years. He cheated on her and got engaged to this other girl behind our backs!!!!! This other girl new he had a pregnant girlfriend AND REFUSED TO BACK OFF! This other girl has also caused our son to be facing charges. This is so heartbreaking! The evil soul ties with this other girl need to be broken off our son in the name of Jesus! Our son needs to take responsibility for his actions! In the name of Jesus, our son needs to humble himself and make amends to his child and her mother!

One of the most discouraging things that plagued my mother and i relationship. Clearly hearing her speak on my constant arguments concerning my personal Christian beliefs. Negative remarks that i wouldn't be blessed if did not agree with her on all things. Sometimes we have to allow our children to grow in maturity in the FAITH for themselves. Instead of being forced to believe or allowing denomination choice of service conflict.

I watched you all the time and you have helped me in so many ways. But I must say I disagree with a few things you say in this video regarding letting your children make their own decisions and mistakes especially when it comes to drug use! My daughter Jacqueline what's 34 years old when she passed on June 14th 2019! Although I didn't live close by and was 900 miles away we spoke 3-4 X a day on the phone and or FaceTime as she had three young children that I obviously wanted to be able to see and being their lives. You really can't just leave them alone or turn the other cheek when it comes to drug abuse! You have to find help and get them help and make them go if that's what it takes! Because it don't want to end up like she did and have so many hearts broken around her! I'm crying my eyes out right now I'm trying to get this out so you all understand and Joyce understands this is a devastating thing and I don't wish it upon anyone especially another mother! It's easy to talk about Joyce but you've never had it happened to you! No one can imagine the pain the grief the sorrow that stays with you from every minute of the day from missing your child! I think you need to rethink that information you said in the video please!😭😭😭💔💔💔

Some people are like stones dipped in water. They can't soak in water no matter the amout around it. Am afraid you are that stone. I also wonder why mind too much about someone who dont help you. I suggest you get so busy where you are helped n stop following someone who is not of help to you
