Cancelling On a Cook

Ойын-сауық

The plaintiff says she and the defendant have done business for years. She claims the defendant hired her to cook for a big event, and she even hired staff and bought supplies, but then the defendant dumped her. She’s suing for what she’s owed. The defendant says the plaintiff flaked out on her at the last minute and failed to return phone calls, so she had to hire someone else.

To ALL of the clue-less people being shocked about the plaintiff saying she pre-seasoned her food 1 week in advance.... It's done ALL the time. Take a trip to the meat/poultry section of your local grocery store. They have marinated raw chicken, beef & pork lion, salmon etc. Those items have future expiration dates of 3-6 weeks or more. Also, certain appitizers like hot wings, chicken tenders, spicy shrimp, etc are pre-seasoned & packaged & last up to 3 months. So educate yourself before judging.

That bit by the defendant about "not wanting to prejudice the case, but ..." was cheap, even if it was intended as a joke and not a "clever" way of prejudicing the case. (If it was truly intended as a joke, throwing it up right at the beginning, rather than in the middle of testimony, would have been a bit more acceptable.)
