Great video, I am starting to save my viewing of your channel to Saturday mornings. It takes me back to when I watched Saturday morning cartoons, many of which were super hero cartoons. You do a great job of content and information for these toys especially on the business side of why toys succeeded and failed. You should seriously look into doing your own documentary on toys from the seventy's from the business side as well as the play value side. Keep it going your awesome!

I believe, regarding Spider-Man alley, that the other apartment was meant to be Green Goblin's. Isn't Norman Osborn a millionaire? (Maybe it's one of those many Green Gobllin imposters?) Whatever the case, that's pretty funny. They live across the street from each other, like wacky neighbors. There was even a dart board with Spider-Man's face in Goblin's apartment.

I was just a little kid back when Mego had their Superheroes line of figures. I collected them all even the Planet of the Apes, S.W.A.T., the Knights of the Round Table, and of course the Marvel and DC figures. I was always bummer they didn't do more villains. They had Green Goblin, Joker, Penguin, Riddler, Myxzelplick or ?? his name is. They had Batman baddies but not many Marvel bad guys. I just used my Ivanhoe dude, my Star Trek alien, other assorted Apes and creatures. It worked. As for these particular sets, toys, figures? I wasn't a huge 12" fan. I had the 8" line, now had they released ANY more 8" sets and figures, I'd have been all over that. Well I would have begged Mom......lol. The Mego World's Greatest Superheroes line brings back so many memories. Walking into Toys R Us on 27th and Howard. Going to the action figures and seeing Mego everywhere! As a kid who loved comics, read Spider-Man🕷🕸, Hulk, Iron-Man, Captain America and the Falcon! I loved having my own versions of these characters. I really wanted a Red Skull, The Tarantula from Spider-Man, Daredevil, Iron Fist, Power-Man, Kingpin, and other bad guys and good guys they left out. It is the main reason I collect Marvel Legends(both Toy Biz & Hasbro, Diamond💎Select, and others) now. I always wanted Mego X-Men, Wolverine, Cyclops, Angel, DC's Hawkman, Black Manta, and again other characters not made. Now I've gotten my Doctor Octopus 🐙, Jackal, and all those I've mentioned above. Except I'm SUPPOSED to be too old for "Toys", "Action Figures", and "Collectibles". But you know what? Screw it! I enjoy it! It gives me great memories to look back on. And heck I was recently diagnosed with a terminal illness. It's slow acting but I have it. So?? Heck with it! I'll enjoy my time left doing what I like and enjoy. Life is too short to fear what everyone else is saying or commenting about. Be HAPPY FOR YOURSELF!

Those Mego action sets would’ve been way cool had they been thought out a little better and actually released. GI Joe AT sets are great as well as the Gabriel Lone Ranger sets...and they did a ton of both of those. I loved getting them as a kid for my 12” joes as it always RE-sparked new play adventures and they weren’t as much $ so Mom would spring for them once in a while too. Otherwise for big sets and vehicles you had to wait for Christmas or BDay. And getting a few Batman pieces like more batarangs and stuff would’ve been so cool. Not to mention the artwork on the boxes....well now I guess I’m wishing as a collector too. Great video Brian!

The magnetic Spider-man is one of those things I have a hard time believing didn't get made (until ToyBiz). I LOVED the 8" WGSH line but absolutely despised the pocket and comic action heroes lines, which eliminated everything I loved about the 8"ers. I even had the Batman exploding bridge set. It's worth a ton now, but I was so displeased with the lazy coloration and lack of articulation, I actually BLEW MINE UP! #Hindsight

Seeing that fist fighting 8" figures came along as an 8" variant, I always wondered why the 12" magnetic hands variant concept didn't trickle down to 8". From Marty's point of view, it would have been another sale/another reason to want buy a duplicate Mego hero or villain figure ("but Mom, this Batman can stick to things!")... and plenty of fun from a kids point of view. So many missed no brainers. I'm thinking the re-tooling cost was weighed in against the build-up towards electronic toys... which in hind sight was a costly mistake.

My vote would be for magnetic hands Spider-Man. I had the 12" Spidey in 1979/80, with the Fly-Away action and the big net, and he was a complete badass, with this beautifully sculpted physique underneath his fabric costume. The look and fit of that 12" costume was a huge improvement over the 8" costume (with its tight crotch and gigantic sleeve cuffs). if he had had magnetic hands, he would have been the greatest action figure created at that time!

Since the Wonder Woman Paradise Island playset opens with Diana Prince spinning in place to turn into Wonder Woman, was there an actual mechanism built in to turn her around as shown?
