Canadian Lancaster & BBMF Come To Southend Airport 16th August 2014

Here is Part 1 of two films, showing the action at London Southend Airport, on 16th August 2014, when the BBMF & The Canadian Lancaster came here, after being moved back from Biggin Hill due to high winds. The reason for the visit, was that they were appearing at the Eastbourne Airshow.
In this first film, we see the arrival of the aircraft, along with scenes of BOTH crews, talking to the crowds. Also, we see an ALL CREW photo line up !!!, especially for the crowds to get some very special pictures.
This is followed by the mass take off of all the aircraft, who then went and displayed at the Eastbourne Airshow.
In Part 2, you will see their return .
So sit back for 24 mins. and enjoy the very historic sight of TWO airworthy Lancaster bombers, together for the first time in many ,many years , and listen to the Music Of The Merlins !!!
Id like to thank the crews of all the aircraft, who gave their time talking to the crowds, and for doing the photo line up. You guys are fantastic.
Also thankyou to all the brave personnel, who in the dark days of war, gave so much for us all.
We remember you ....and never forget that for our tomorrow you gave your today. God bless you all.

Such a nice bunch of lads. When they were down at Southend I managed to chat to some of the flight and they were more than happy to spend time chatting away to us. Was lucky to be at the end of the airport with my camera when these 2 were here. Nice photo of them at the end of the runway together and taking off.

Absolutely Bloody Brilliant, how cool was that of them to come over & not only talk to you all but to stand there & have pictures taken, Kudos to them, fantastic, nice one guys.
The only thing missing was a Mossie. That was my dad's Squadron in the RCAF, 410. IMO, as beautiful as the Lancaster. Both awe inspiring to see. I have a lot of his photos.

Brilliant work Southend.... .My Dad was an Air Nav Instructor with the "Air Plan"... During a very stormy Christmas 42' he was transferred to...RCAF Station, ST. Huberts in Montreal... as soon as he landed late for service at lunch ...he made a Bee-line for the mess...where he introduced himself to the base Dietitian ...."The Star Of the County Down".... she served him personally where upon he exclaimed that her food was the best in the bluudy Empire:)...and invited her out for dinner .....Me Mom..".Dot" Patton.

Slaninte "L'llHam" He did the Usual...Moths... Ansons...Harvard's.....and did most of his time on the...."widow maker"...Halifax...as you know.... their exhausts blew a very long range very deadly bright Blue....and a lot of brave young Commonweal kids...all died accordingly..... My Very Best
