8 minutes of highlights, about half of that as replays. Don't even show all the goals or any highlights from half of the game from halfway through the first until the third. Great job TSN

LMAO I was thinking the same thing. They show a nothing rush by a Canadian player in the neutral zone and then in the next "highlight" it's already 1-0 US without them showing the goal 🤦‍♂. All the people with any video editing skills must've taken jobs in the states.

The ushl is fine....for what it is. It exists because we (Americans) have a strange fixation on NCAA athletics. The WHL-OHL-QJMHL (aka CHL) are just superior from a competition standpoint....except for goalies. Everybody knows this. The superiority of those leagues is the reason why the NCAA outlaws former CHL players......while still allowing Europeans who signed pro contracts. The NCAA doesn't want Canadians (the U of Denver in the late 50's and 60's) to thrash Americans. The rule outlawing major jr players from Canada was instituted in about 1974 because the mighty Golden Gophers had a hissy fit getting hammered by Denver who won 5 NCAA championships in 10 years.

@@prun8893 Canadians were far superior in that era of the sport compared to their American counterparts, thats not even remotely the case anymore. The US will be bound to overtake Canada at some point in number of NHL players in the league and match us equally at every age level now, peer for peer at every position. The USHL and NCAA play a big part in the amount of US talent thats being pumped into the league as of late. Canada will still be producing star players but even now, young Canadian players are leaving the CHL route in favour of the USHL-NCAA route and that number is only going to increase. It also gives players the option of going to the AHL instead of being stuck with their CHL team due to the CHL-NHL agreement and being too good for major junior. Also, junior hockey is in flux now in Canada. The BCHL left the Junior A circuit of Hockey Canada to go on their own completely to specifically compete with the USHL and CHL and sign players from anywhere they want as opposed to before, currently the GOJHL is *fighting* for that same Junior A status with Hockey Canada instead of Junior B to keep their AAA players in the GTA from leaving to the OJHL or USHL. The whole sexual assault scandal with the 2018 World Junior team has gutted Hockey Canada’s finances and sponsors. A majority of the province’s hockey federations are losing faith and Quebec completely withdrew from paying their registration fee shares to Hockey Canada. I see this as an opportunity for the USHL and NCAA to poach more talent from Canada and develop the country’s elite talent that way. Its already happening with Power and Fantilli recently going 1 & 2 in their drafts, Celebrini will be challenging for top spot this year, guys like Sillinger and Savoie played there during COVID. The CHL *had* decades of experience over the USHL-NCAA in producing elite NHL talent but those days are soon to be over now. Expect the gap to shrink significantly in the coming years.

@@Annexation_ You are wrong. Almost 800,00 Canadians registered in Canada. The CHL is the most competitive and best development junior league in the world. Another stat for you to look at. In the last 25 years stanley cup winners, all those teams had at least 15 Canadian born players on those teams. What does that tell you.

@@Annexation_no point in arguing on this topic. These guys just regurgitate the same old news. They’re old heads. The game is evolving. He must’ve forgot about the 8 first round picks from the development program in 2019. Or the 340 ncaa athletes who got nhl dev camp invites. The development program is revolutionizing junior level development and I give it 5 years until they completely surpass Canada in prospect development. And I’ve known a couple kids who went to the O after a year in the USHL. They all say the ushl is a harder league, so that’s an undisputed fact. Albeit, it does encompass all of America whereas the O is just one of 3 big leagues, but the junior level development in America is at least on par with Canada. If not, better. As a die hard hockey Canada fan it is unfortunate but the corruption, nepotism, and overall incompetence has gone too far. The states will prevail, as they do with every sport.

  • @Annexation_

@@stuartrubenstein6624 Never said it wasn't idiot, so no im not wrong. You are. The number of Americans registered at the moment is 500,000+ and is growing every year, while the participation numbers in our country have more or less stagnated, because Canadian kids are finding other sports like Soccer, Basketball and Baseball funner and cheaper to play. That number is going to surpass ours soon because: a) The US has a higher population and b) The US population has more money The NHL is currently dumping money anywhere and everywhere in the US trying to get kids to play hockey. Eventually the development avenues in the US will advance further and the USHL and NCAA will both advance with it. More elite Canadian kids are starting to choose the US route of development every year btw. That doesn't mean that Canadian talent is going to dwindle, just more American talent is going to be in the league soon. They still haven't won an Olympic title since 1980, haven't won anything at the senior level since 1996, and technically haven't even won a single World Championship since the 1930s. They still have a long way to go before even being considered the full-on dominant hockey power alongside or above Canada like the Soviets were back then. The successes at the junior level for the US hasn't translated to the senior level for almost 30 years now. But you'd be naive to think that the US route of development in the USHL and NCAA cant rival the CHL route.

@@Annexation_ There is a caveat. When a top prospect does go to the IIHF u18s (or WJC), they don't usually play the Hlinka Gretzky in the summer. Connor McDavid, Connor Bedard, and Adam Fantilli are some examples of guys who have never played a Hlinka but obviously would have made the team. This year, Macklin Celebrini , a likely 1st or 2nd overall pick in 2024, isn't here since he played the IIHF u18s. Also, for some reason, Hockey Canada rarely brings 16 year olds back for a 2nd Hlinka. So this u18 team is much better than our IIHF one, but not the "best" rendition. Unfortunately, the 2021 IIHF u18 is likely the only best-on-best u18 tournament we're ever going to see, since COVID cancellations actually made everyone available.

@@ethanwiebe6010 Celebrini would have been here but has a bummed shoulder and is probably going to miss the start of the NCAA season too. Sometimes we get talents like McDavid and Bedard that are far beyond this level at their age (even when eligible) and played in the U20 summer camps instead. In Fantillis case it was b/c Canada skipped out of the Hlinka tournament completely that year for the 2004 age group due to COVID, which was a damn shame. Funnily enough, recent first overall Owen Power didn't even make the cut for his Hlinka year for some odd reason.
