Can your line trimmer do this? Ryobi trimmer & expand-it attachments review

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Can your line trimmer turn into a chain saw, blower, hedger and more? Mine can. This Ryobi line trimmer can be converted into multiple handy tools such as hedger trimmer and pole saw through the use of the expand-it range by Ryobi. These attachments are easy to use and work very well. In this video i will review the Ryobi line trimmer and some of the attachments in which i own and use along with an un boxing of a line trimmer. I have a two stroke one, about 6 attachments and had it for around 17 years, still going strong.

I have the 2 stroke version and have 6 attachments. 2 years and absolutely love it, starts easy enough for my 4'6" 60 lbs boy to start! Best tool I have bought in years! I do have the jet blower tho, its amazing also! Probably 4x what that blower does!

I have both. I had the 2 stroke first then I went out and bought the 4 stroke as backup. I have several attachments that I use with it and sometimes my wife wants to use another attachment.

Had a Ryobi 4 cycle with attachments, lasted about a year and 3 months. Seems that the timing belt slipped and really screwed it up, and wouldn't you believe it, it is just out of warranty.

I have the same trimmer, it worked great for a couple uses (the engine is a piece of shit). Used a couple times and would never start again. Far from happy with that waste of money, but since its an expand-it unit and I have several attachments I'm stuck with having to replace the engine. At $100 just for the engine part of the unit, I feel its a complete rip-off to only get a couple uses out of it. I threw the thing out on my carport several months ago and was lucky enough to find a replacement cylinder head apparently mine was cracked from the factory....don't even ask Ryobi to help with repairs even under warranty, you bought it you are stuck with it, so whatever gimmick of a warranty they try to claim its useless. With the new cylinder head installed it works great, I hope much longer than 2 uses that I got out of it before. The attachments are a great idea but not useful at all without the engine. If this one doesn't hold up I'll be switching back to the Troy Bilt like I had before that finally gave up after 10 years of being used not only at home but commercially as well every day. I have the straight shaft trimmer head, blower, and tiller. Eventually would like to get some of the other attachments along the way...just not so sure about spending the money if the Ryobi engine isn't going to hold up, I'll wait a season and see how this repair goes, otherwise I'll go back to the Troy Bilt engine. Yes the Expand-It attachments will work on the Troy Bilt trimmer as well as long as you get the Troy Bilt model that accepts attachments....the attachments will NOT work on the Stihl system, or any other high priced brand attachment capable systems....course not they want you buying their brand name over-priced attachments.

Did they not let you replace it under warranty?

  • @wildbill23c

@@JS-tb9hu No because by the time the problems started it was out of warranty, only a 90 day warranty through Home Depot. Won't do that again, may as well have bought the Harbor Freight trimmer for 1/2 the price.

@@wildbill23c ryobi would not cover the engine? After 3 months? Did they give you a reason? So I take it your not a fan of this? I was thinking about getting it. The 18v string trimmer expand it with battery is 139 now

  • @wildbill23c

@@reedcarpenter2994 No reason given, HD wouldn't accept the return so I wasted $100 on a power head that worked twice. If you want Ryobi don't get their gas powered junk. Their electric and battery stuff is great though. I bought a Troy Bilt string trimmer this spring that uses the same Expand-It attachments and haven't had any trouble so far and I've been using it pretty frequently with the trimmer and blower attachments...used my roto-tiller attachment a couple times earlier this spring as well. I think I'd go with a cordless version if they're offering it now they didn't have a cordless Expand-It system when I got that Ryobi power head.

I think the boys at Shindaiwa Husqvarna Stihl and Echo might wanna ask you a few questions about why you think RYOBI is even in the ballpark as far as quality.Ryobi is the worst ,or close to it ,brand anyone could waste money on.

There's a video of a guy cleaning gutters with it. It's not going to be as good as a dedicated blower, but it makes for a faster job than sweeping or raking. It is better than the original.
