Interesting keyboard concept. A suggestion for the not staying open/shut issue. Can you fit slim magnets in the middle part so when it is open it pulls together, and then maybe on the back where the feet are so when closed it keeps it folded. Looking forward to the Cyberdeck project you have in mind with it.

Yeah I could try that, I may see if I can get some strips, but I don't know if they're that thin they'll be strong enough? Worth a shot. It's really not that big of a deal unless you're trying to type on your lap or a surface that isn't flat 👍I have a pretty cool "cube/tube" 3D printed cyberdeck design in my mind that I think could work, lots of room for batteries and a widescreen, we'll see how it pans out. Thanks for watching!

I, too, like to see the screws. Anything that feels tactile and can feasibly be undone so I can mess with the internals is preferable. I modded a Redragon k522 with some weird stuff only because I could unscrew it. :) Found some really nice touchscreen IPS monitors on Aliexpress that're like 3" tall and 8" wide. Makes me wonder if you couldn't do something with one of those and this little thing. Still working on my own cyberdeck, but life keeps getting in the way. (Blah). Happy new year, hope you and yours are safe and healthy. :)

I fully agree! I think showing how things are put together not only looks cooler, but also makes it a ton easier if you need to take something apart. I can't stand plastic clips. I get how it's much easier and cheaper to produce, but it's not the same to me 👍That's cool that you were able to mod your keyboard, good job! Most definitely going to be picking up a little widescreen IPS monitor from AliEx, I have a bunch in my cart, just need to figure out the rest of the dimensions of the deck before I decide on one. I have a pretty cool idea for a 3D printed tube-like cyberdeck with lots of room for batteries and a cool slide out folding keyboard. I have tons of ideas as well, but my time seems to dwindle more and more. Happy New Year to you too! I wish you the same, thanks so much for watching and commenting.

the akira x230 looking sexy as always although its a cool keyboard, I think a vertical fold would be much better in terms of portability, to me it seems especially impractical to have the switches face outward, then you cant just toss it into a bag without worry, along with the fact that it doesnt lock in place... if portability is its selling point it has some weird design choices ngl personally I'd go for a non mechanical switch design if I was actually looking for portability, some even fold up into the size slightly larger than a phone

Thanks man! Yeah, vertical fold might be better, but harder to implement due to the staggered layout, would be easier in ortholinear 👍It is a strange keyboard I will give it that. There are some cool tiny keyboards that are more portable, but you'd have to sacrifice the mechanical part. Thanks for watching!

@@theordinary1175 I'm sure it's not that bad haha, I attribute typing to playing the guitar, there is a balanced pressure you need to apply to the fretboard to make the notes sound clear without hurting your fingers in the process, everyone is different though and some people just enjoy mashing the keys. 👍

@@hightech-lowlife that was a good tip about balancing the pressure on the fretboard. I go to rough and it twangs. Awesome!
