One thing we should all know is. IT DOES NOT HURT NIKE OR ADIDAS 99% OF THE TIME!!!!! The yeezys, and jordans they sell get sold out 100% OF THE TIME, paying resell HELPS RESELLERS, it does not help nike AT ALL. So if you get a rep of them, you are not hurting the brand, they already sold 100% of the stock, and made all the profit. so I am 100% okay with wearing reps, because resellers can EAT SH!T for ruining the sneaker culture.

Just say no to reps, kids. It’s not a good thing to be so comfortable deceiving people where deception is completely unnecessary. Doesn’t matter if it’s just clothes and therefore inconsequential, that’s actually what makes it extra ridiculous. No one is forcing you to wear certain things. People who intentionally wear reps insist it’s not about tricking people, yet they only wear reps that look as close as possible to the real thing, and would NEVER wear reps that have any kind of dead giveaway that they’re reps.

Tbh with todays resell prices you gotta be realistic. Most people like the shoe for its design and colourway, but they don't wanna be paying x2 or x3 the original price. And let's be honest buying sneakers at retail is almost impossible now for 'hype' shoes such as jordans, yeezys, dunks etc. Reps are the way forward imo

The quality of replicas has changed so much over the years. Most people wouldn't even be able to tell nowadays. You even have celebrities rocking fake, both intentionally and unintentionally, but mostly the latter due to shops/sellers finessing them.

Feels like “bootleg” and “knock-off” get conflated here a bit. I think this is an important distinction to make because a good bootleg is supposed to look like the real thing, whereas a good knock-off is still meant to either stand on its own to a small extent or come off as a sort of “generic brand” alternative to an iconic piece

I picked up some knockoff Timbs a while back that I wear basically every day now. Besides being like 1/4 of the price, the main reason I got them over “real” ones was because of changes to the design that I felt made them look better on me (they hit all the main notes of a Timberland but are low-cut) As a consumer I think this sort of product can be good because it caters to demand that isn’t being met by the name-brand product. I'd have gladly bought an identical product from Timberland, but they don't offer one that properly fills the same niche.

The problem is the resell market. For example if I want a pair of Jordans I can't buy it from Nike due to bots, so if I want it I have to go to stock X a pay a premium plus a tax and more expensive shipping. A pair of shoes that should cost 100$ now cost 600$, and that's just stupid. When it comes to reps in a lot of cases you are buying from people that worked at Nike factories or other brands and can reproduce an 1 to 1 shoe for an affordable price.

I'm not dropping 2 bands on a 6 year old DS pair of Chicago 1's. However, I have absolutely dropped $170 on near 1:1 reps of said shoe, and comparing them to my recent retail pick-ups of AJ1's, they're not different enough to justify the price for the "real ones" at resale. I've actually had to return two pairs of RETAIL AJ1's to Nike for manufacturing defects because they looked TERRIBLE out of the box. Most "good" rep middlemen will send you pictures of the pair that you're buying to scrutinize first before they send them out, so you don't get non-symmetrical pairs or pairs with major visual defects, like I have with real Nike's.
