Homestead Hacks is a youtube channel showing our progress so far on our new campsite that we have named Camp Haughtland. We Have built this camp site from nothing but woods to a very nice weekend getaway camp for my wife, myself, and our kids. Come along on our gurney as we continue to build up both on the grid, and off the grid versatile combination. If we want the comforts of on the grid hookup, like electric, and septic we will have it. Or if we go off grid we will have it as well with our solar panels, and water catchment system...

I've never tried to make a wood fire like that. I could probably catch a dry log on fire if I had enough paper.. Lol I'd be there first one to lay down and die. Donate my body to science. Have a great weekend.. The camp is looking awesome. 👍

I believe i could but of course weather permitting. I try not to let my ego get hold here as it tells me I could in any conditions. Yet as you mention, at times it is very difficult to start a fire even in ok weather without all the modern items. Agree it's best to practise, have fun and learn than to have to spend a night without a fire for sure.
