Can You Survive Nuclear Winter?

Ғылым және технология

What if the coldest winter wasn't one nature made, but one we created? Nearly 74,000 years ago, Earth faced a "nuclear winter" due to the colossal Toba super-eruption, almost erasing humanity. But what if history repeats itself, not by natural causes, but by our own hands? "Can You Survive Nuclear Winter?" explores this chilling possibility.
We delve into the heart of humanity's darkest creation, the nuclear arsenal, from the United States' Cold War strategies to the staggering global stockpile of warheads. With over 2,475 nuclear detonations already witnessed, we stand on the brink of potential self-destruction. But it's not just the size of the bombs that should worry us-it's their number.
Our journey through the grim prospect of a nuclear winter sheds light on the severe, earth-cooling aftermath that could follow a major nuclear conflict. From disrupted climates to the decimation of food supplies, the impacts are terrifying. And while Switzerland's readiness with fallout shelters is unmatched, it brings us to a stark reality: survival is about more than withstanding the initial blast.
Understanding the rule of threes in survival-air, shelter, water, and food-becomes more crucial than ever in a nuclear winter. But as we ponder these survival tactics, we must ask: Can humanity endure another nuclear winter, especially one of our own making? The video invites viewers to reflect on our precarious existence and the power we hold to shape the future of our planet.

    Where we stand is not destroyed we are not in ruins but in something waiting to be built waiting to begin again from these ashes we can rise and create beauty. The crumbling walls are not a representation of our failures but a reminder of the lessons we have learned so we continue on not because we want to but because we have to.

    I think we often forget that a nuclear exchange is not necessarily the end of a war. The conflict might continue between nations with traditional weaponanry. The fallout might be just one of many hazards to avoid until a ceasefire is declared.

    It really depends on how many bombs and their kilotons that are dropped. You could likely end humidity with just over 10 super nukes. There really no point fighting any wars because we pretty much wiped out humanity. The atmospheric poisoning from the fallout would likely end most of us. A few people might survive but the next war will be fought with sticks and stones.

Because as soon as the Hydrogen bombs was tested, it was realised that there was absolutely no chance of hiding/ surviving a global thermal nuclear war .. @@splinterbyrdit's not so much "how likely is X to occur" general prepping is just an intelligent thing to do considering emergencies and disasters happen frequently. Earthquakes, floods, fires, the list goes on. Many people have never seen or experienced true emergencies, help has always been close, food was 2 minutes away, and the water always ran. Or they could hop in their car and go to a friend's for a couple days, come home, throw out the spoiled food, and buy more. In a real emergency or disaster there will be 10's of thousands of not more people and not all can be helped or even reached for days or weeks. Or just look at how some places fared during the lockdown insanity. No formula for your infant or even diapers? And they got off relatively easy. Prepping isn't about the low probability/extreme impact events. Sure it's good to have some preparedness in mind for them, look past your normalcy bias. But mostly it's about the high probability/med to high impact events.

    High yield thermonuclear weapons emit less fallout than atomic weapons since they are powerful enough to send the radiation high enough into the atmosphere so that most of it doesn’t come back down. At most you’d have to remain for 2 weeks in a shelter but after that the fallout radiation will have returned to safe levels. Though you then have the prospect of nuclear winter.

  • @KevinFrost
    @KevinFrost2 күн бұрын

    While it is a catching title, nuclear winter is just a theory based on a single dimensional model. In fact, there's a lot of data disproving a nuclear winter would even happen. Neil Halloran has a good video going over some of those things (you can ignore the second half of his video). More than likely, the aerosols emitted by the widespread fires caused by nuclear explosions would fall back to the earth in a matter of hours or days. Smaller gases could stay up in the atmosphere for longer, but the potential cooling effect is way less than most nuclear winter theorists will warn about. Ultimately, let's hope we never have to put the theory to the test though.

    Switzerland may be the safest country in the Northern Hemisphere to be in during a nuclear war. But anywhere in the Southern Hemisphere would be better, due to the Coriolis Effect, which will keep all fallout produced in the Northern Hemisphere north of the Equator, where it belongs.

    "The nuclear arms race is like two sworn enemies standing waist deep in gasoline, one with three matches, the other with five."-Carl Sagan & Carl Saga also said that if 50 nuclear bombs were denotated in one day, the world would face a Nuclear Winter which would probably cause extinction of most life on Earth. A sneak first strike attack that would make retaliation impossible, would probably destroy all life in both the attacking country and the attacked country.

    Short answer is no. One nuclear sub carries an “official” 20 nuclear warheads probably more (up to 80 I think). No win for anyone. We’re all screwed if this happens and the bunkers we have won’t survive also sorry to say.

    My plan is just keep a big stash of bottle caps. I will be able to buy all the clean water and food i need with those caps. The first thing i would do after a bomb was dropped is find a Germen Shepherd to be my companion. I also play these songs to past the time. The first is by Skeeter Davis - The End Of The World and the second is I Don't Want to Set the World on Fire by Ink Spot.

    If the consciousness of a person is transferred into another living creature after death - which to me constitutes a proven fact -, it will have to appear as an especially appalling scenario that many could have to face a future of such a sort without human biology as a basis. My impression is that it could help in averting a nuclear catastrophe if this possibility was focused on in the media.

    I feel that I was born to answer a question - what happened to the previous Interglacial Period, and what brought on the Last Ice Age. I have my answer now. It is us who trigger these Ice Ages. My hope is that, if it does happen at all, that not a single one of us survives, so that there wouldn't be a single human reincarnating, and we all would have to go elsewhere.
