Oh, how I love your law! I meditate on it all day long. Psalm 119:97 My eyes stay open through the watches of the night, that I may meditate on your promises. Psalm 119:148

I have an ESV study Bible that I love! I read scripture then if there is time, I go back and read the notes or look up other scripture. During my quiet time I try to journal a prayer but that's not always how things go. I generally pray before I get out of bed so I'm ready when I sit down to read. Scheduling out for deeper studies or setting a timer has never occurred to me! I will have to give that a thought. Most of the time, scheduling out involves time to study the Sunday school lesson.

Great suggestions!! I'm planning a study this fall with How to Enjoy Reading Your Bible with application to the book of Ephesians. This info will be so helpful for those of us who have a hard time letting go of deep, informational study so that we can spend time just enjoying sitting in God's lap!

That’s fantastic. The cheapest way to get my book is directly through my publisher’s site. BTW…the study guide is built in (say the end of each chapter) so each person in the Bible study only needs one book. Here’s the link (plain link, NOT an affiliate link): bakerbookhouse.com/products/38062

Thank you for bringing Bible time and study into focus! I've been studying Henry Blackaby's _Experiencing_ _God_ for 2 months and the takeaway is our _relationship_ with YHWH. Relationship is the bottom-line answer to all 5 points you made. Thank you, and prayers for YHWH's blessings to rest upon you and yours.

An Infomercial ~~~ Rabbitholes can be calisthenics for the brain, if nothing else. One can never know everything. 3 ring notebooks and computers are wonderful. My professors drilled into us to ALWAY look up EVERYTHING you don't know. To this day, I feel guilty if I do not look up a word I don't know, whether the Bible or a selection out of "50 Shades of Pray." Sooner or later, in a aHA moment, the rabbit holes connect...

Rabbit holes can be super helpful (and fun). Reading for overall understanding and enjoyment is also wonderful. Thanks for sharing!
