    I here you. But going to college isn't only about the band, step shows, and football games. You're there for an education. Unfortunately some of the HBCUs don't match up to other PWIs depending on your major. How connected are these schools to major employers. What connections can you gain ? The band is not as important as having the necessary skills, resources, and connections needed once you graduate.

    @@crissy4445 I think she was trying to say that in practice this song was never played by the band and also they only heard the band play this specific song for the first time that very night, so the captain's (Kayla's) musicality was on point because she didn't know how the band was gong to go about playing that song (tempo, breakdowns etc). The former Dolls who danced in that year explained so. Otherwise they do have regular practice 😊

For examples: Tracey Prince-(Doll captain 1993-95), Gina Jobe- (Doll captain 1996-97) and the Dolls current director, D'Tara, (Doll captain 2009-10) are just a few that have graced the lead position, with beauty and elegance.

    The worst mistake of my life was me leaving in HBCU. If you are currently at and HBCU and thinking about leaving. Don't!!! It's been more than 20 years since I graduated from college and I still regret it to this day. I missed out on so much. HBCU's are a safe haven for us to be us without being scrutinized!!!
