These are marching band dancers. (Auxiliary, Majorettes, Dance Team, etc.) Any of those terms but they are not cheerleaders. These the Fabulous Dancing Dolls of the Southern University Marching Jaguars.
I remember seeing Beyoncé’s routine and thinking it reminds me of the dancing dolls, only for her to then reveal it was the inspiration for her whole setup. Kayla Pittman in the front is completely mesmerising. It’s been 5 years and I still come back to watch this

They all look and move like hookers by showing the cracks of their rear ends. Black college marching band dancers have lost their dignity.
I legit almost cried. The arrangement is awesome. Those horns are SCREAMING!!! The phrasing and the tone is perfection. Come on tubas and percussion! The ladies were great. One of the best marching bands.

Why didn't they simply make the skirts longer to conceal their cracks? HBCU marching band dancers have lost their class and dignity. I'm sorry for hurting your feelings but the truth often hurts.

I here you. But going to college isn't only about the band, step shows, and football games. You're there for an education. Unfortunately some of the HBCUs don't match up to other PWIs depending on your major. How connected are these schools to major employers. What connections can you gain ? The band is not as important as having the necessary skills, resources, and connections needed once you graduate.

@@crissy4445 I think she was trying to say that in practice this song was never played by the band and also they only heard the band play this specific song for the first time that very night, so the captain's (Kayla's) musicality was on point because she didn't know how the band was gong to go about playing that song (tempo, breakdowns etc). The former Dolls who danced in that year explained so. Otherwise they do have regular practice 😊

For examples: Tracey Prince-(Doll captain 1993-95), Gina Jobe- (Doll captain 1996-97) and the Dolls current director, D'Tara, (Doll captain 2009-10) are just a few that have graced the lead position, with beauty and elegance.

This is a night where everything just fell into place for everyone. It was a MOMENT and Ms. Kayla Pittman shined like a star. Black queens. It was almost fantasy like to watch in a way. I just can't describe it

I remember seeing a clip of this on Twitter when I was in high school and it made me so happy. Black women are so beautiful and as one myself I don’t feel that way about myself often. I’m so happy that things like this exist.

The worst mistake of my life was me leaving in HBCU. If you are currently at and HBCU and thinking about leaving. Don't!!! It's been more than 20 years since I graduated from college and I still regret it to this day. I missed out on so much. HBCU's are a safe haven for us to be us without being scrutinized!!!
