Cris ain't gonna freeze. He's got wood out of the gazoot. But it's still fun watching the videos like you said. I tried it last summer with a brand new dewalt hammergun that I bought for breaking up front steps that were crumbling at my sister and laws house. They were old. House was built in 1948. They put cinderblocks as the base. Then concrete all around it and on top. Well anyway when I tried to use my dewalt with the wedge bit. All it did was go inside about a inch and stop and get stuck. I could see that it wouldn't work. It needed to keep pushing inward. All it did was hammer on the outside and barely go inside. That's why a maul and steel wedges are better. They keep going in like a ram splitter. Even when I used my monster maul, it worked better that the dewalt hammergun. Because it goes in further and with 210 pounds of force behind it. It's back to the gas splitter. ⛽️

This cracked me up. Your legs dangling looked like Elf On The Shelf. Bill watched the video. This idea might have potential here. The surgeon who rebuilt my thumb said no more hand splitting for me. Big rounds are stood up and I saw them into managable pieces. This might help out busting up larger rounds. Great video.

A sledge hammer is quicker if the concrete is only 4-5 inches thick. You just have to lift it and drop/hit it. Unless you're next to something you have to be careful by, most of the pros have those but don't use them often outside. Nice video. The wood soaks up the blows from that little jack hammer. (electric =Whimpey, Pneumatic=more powerful usually) Wood needs an Eastenmade to split it.

Even Superman would have a hard time splitting with a jackhammer. I've tried it myself, not sure if the stroke isn't long enough or the bit needs more wedge shape. Didn't seem reasonable that it could break concrete, but not firewood rounds. So I built a big wedge for the bottom of a Shaver post pounder. That didn't work either. Hit after hit, no split, but it did drive the round right down in the ground! I tried it sittin' on concrete too. If it wasn't sitting darn near perfect, it'd come flying out of there with some real force! Well, being a quick study, it didn't take more than half a dozen tries for me to decide on some other project! Who'd a thunk? Thot I'd take a few minutes and reinvent the wheel. Blew that one too. Did better building a hydraulic splitter. Telling you this to save you some time. You can go ahead and try these if you want, but the maul is prob safer.

Give the wedge to ken he probably could welder them on his iceberg wood 🪵 splitter. Iiiii iiiii thinking 🤔 Chris firewood 🪵 be going up in PRICE in 2024 dues to working man hrs splitting firewood 🪵. 😊
