the thing about pitch shifters is that when you pitch the vocals down 3 semitones it changed the key of the vocal i wish someone would create a plugin with an algorithm that if you you pitch the vocals down 3 semitones you can lock it to the same key so it changes the wrong notes into the right ones

So I was recording myself reading a book for my students online and decided I wanted to try to sound like Morgan Freeman. I couldn't get the voice right in the correct range so I recorded it in my best Morgan Freeman on helium impersonation and just pitched it down to acceptable success.

Yo Roomie, I've had a lot of success with simple pitch and formant shifting to make my voice sound different. They way it's works is to shift the formant in the opposite direction to the pitch shift ie. Shifting pitch up 2 and formant down 2 (or more) will make your voice sound higher but keep the formants/resonance lower/intact. This gives you a smoother and more believable voice change. If you were to shift both pitch and formant in the same direction it just makes your voice sound noticeably shifted Give it a try next time!
