I love this channel. It is great for people who aren't native speakers to learn how to improve their speech, to make themselves better understood. However, communication is a two way street. It's be interesting to have more content helping non native speakers understand strong accents. I've lived in Australia since 1988, and I still have trouble understanding a bogan accent. I'm sure lots of people around the world also struggle to understand a Birmingham accent or a Southern Drawl.

I have just found your channel and I am enjoying every video. I am efficient in speaking/writing/ reading the English language and then from time to time, I struggle with some words. I have learned that it's okay not to be perfect and to always learn and keep on improving. Thanks so much, Lucy! I wish you had been my English teacher years ago. My English teacher and mentor (both females and both great people) didn't have the patience to teach me proper pronunciation. I had to learn how to speak by hearing and observing others but my Fench/Portuguese native tongue would make weird sounds. Lol!

Hi Lucy ! Poetry has great tongue twisters. For example, in "The Tyger" by William Blake (tyger = "tiger" in Old English), there’s: “What dread grasp dare its deadly terrors clasp?” This poem was made famous by the TV series "The Mentalist": "Tyger, Tyger" was the code phrase of the bad guys (Red John's friends)...

Thank you Lucy! I believe that any tongue-twister can be doable, if: a student CAN actually pronounce all sounds in language, 100%. Because you don’t really speak English until you can manage all these tricky sounds. And, secondly, I always try to imagine things mentioned in a phrase - like bear, elephants, fleas or whatever. Concentrate on them, not on sounds, take every word separately and make a slight pause when necessary. British English is very easy compared with languages like Russian and Finnish - I can read in both, it’s a nightmare. Thanks god we don’t pronounce ‘r’ in Britain like Americans do - this makes words shorter and easier.

I love this lesson, it's made me laugh so much 🤣 I heard a lot of these ridiculous sentences in my first language, but I never knew there was English ones too. The hardest one for my language (Persian) is 11 and 12 because most of us can't pronounce TH (either voiced or unvoiced one) and we just say D or T for those. For example, we say "DAT" for "That" and "Tree" for "Three". I still can't pronounce it well.

I also have a favorite tongue twister :) "betty botter bought some butter but she said the butter's bitter if I put it in my batter, it will make my batter bitter but a bit of better butter will make my batter better so it 'twas better betty botter bought a bit of better butter" And I practiced, and it made me better at pronouncing my (B) SOUND

Oh my word; tongue twisters has always been part of I and my family's daily life, even till today. While then, my siblings had always challenged me to try out a tongue twister that I've learnt so far, then I'd say a popular tongue twister like the Betty botter, as in 'Betty botter bit of butter, but the butter was bitter, Betty bought some better butter, to make the bitter butter better.' I had always said that because I knew it like the back of my hands, and they would be so upset about that... As for then and now, I've always researched on the hardest confusing English tongue twisters, and I would get a result of: 'Pad kid poured curd pulled cord', which I try memorising this everyday and many more. I really enjoyed watching this video, and thanks very much Lucy for bringing back memories♥♥♡
