Can You Make a Cobra Bag Using a Power Twister?

Спорт

In this video I take you on my journey making a prototype of the Cobra style of punching bag using a 30kg Power Twister. You can buy a Power Twister on Amazon from around $20-$30 - here's one: amzn.to/30LAlR3.
Update: See my DIY channel transformed into a global brand producing the world's first modular cobra bag: kewlus.com/

    This is pretty funny. I've thought about doing this years ago with those springs you see on garage doors. They come in multiple sizes and are typically 3 to 4 feet. Turns out they're either the same or more expensive than the power twisters lol. Edit: Damn, it turned out sooooo much better than I thought. Great job dude 👍🏽!

    This was super helpful man. I've been trying to figure out how to make a cheap cobra reflex bag. My old slow (bottom spring) Everlast reflex bag is old, rusted, beat to death. I'm still using it but it's basically a little bit of metal and 85% tape holding it together.

    Love this build, best way to upgrade it I can think of is to somehow safely make it so you can safely hit something as small as a tennis ball. I really like the idea of that kind of feedback and having to move from a punching bag. The pool noodles seem to be about the right kind of size to make sure you're accurate. The different colors could definitely be good for zones of practice. Actually what I want to do is take that same build but bring the spring a little bit lower and use it for my Filipino stick practice. I think you're really onto something and I'd love to see the full build you come up with.

    Nice job! I have a cobra timing bag but I got bored and experimented around with various universal and pivot joints that I had lying about to try to mimic the synovial joints of the body. More specifically, I experimented with a parallel angled offset to the cobra neck (the parallel offset is achieved with two pvc angle joints connected by a short length of pvc pipe a universal joint can be attached to this. The net effect is to create a timing bag that mimics the erratic head, arm and kick movements of an opponent. This rotating offset can be placed above or below the spring to produce different effects. It can be flipped upside down. All are useful for training. In my case, I have it set up so that I can swap out straight and offset sections to get different motion from the same basic cobra. You seem like a curious and capable guy. I’m sure that if you gave this idea a try, you could perfect it into something really useful.

  • @resilientfarmsanddesignstu1702

    @resilientfarmsanddesignstu1702

    4 ай бұрын

    What happens when you add the offset with the pivot joint is that the offset and anything that is attached above it can freely rotate in a circle about the vertical axis. So when you punch the bag this swiveling action adds side to side and front to back movement on top of the front to back movement caused by the spring, the overall effect is to simulate the effect of a moving and punching opponent. Try it yourself and you will see.

    hey mate! just got a 60kg power twister and im worried its gonna be a bit to hard/rigid to work, what do you reckon? I pretend to use steel pipes on both ends of the cobra bag, and on the upper end use a soccer ball with a plunger attached! (i guess the build is heavier than this one, but enough to compensate 60kg?)

  • @Kewlus

    @Kewlus

    You just have to give it a try. I haven’t tried a spring heavier than 30kg, but with a heavier to like a ball I think it should work. You’ll need a super rigid base though. Possibly even bolt to the ground if possible. Good luck 🤙👌

    notpastrana pastrana It ended up being perfect! I used a steel galvanized pipe, a plunger and a football (soccer) ball and a shitton of tape, so it was heavy enough to have a really good action! Just to consider im holding my base with 4 25kg sand bags (i did my own diy base). Get it bro, My spring is slightly above hip height. If you want a vid of the action and final result dm me @andyescrich

    Reedy could you critique my build so far? I’ll use the imperial system since that’s how I got them and I don’t have a calculator right now. I have a 3 foot long aluminum tube with 1.5 diameter. Then inside that is the taped up handle of the power twister. Then on the other side there’s a 1 foot aluminum tube with 1.25 diameter. Then I have the speed bag on top. So far it think it’s good but how heavy would the base need to be to keep it in place?

  • @Kewlus

    if you go with 40kg you'll need to make sure your base is rock solid, but you'll get better rebound action
