    I love the pioneer, another win for Honda on practicality, with the compact size giving you a crew or a two seat with bed. Other crew machines are too large, and hard to justify their small beds when you are working and are the only passenger. Honda gave a Swiss Army Knife. Not the best at everything/anything, but the best machine for 90% of use cases. Plus a very competitive price point.

    I rip around in my pioneer 1000-5 daily around the ranch & fortunate enough to have one of the most epic trails near our ranch. 80 miles round trip. I love my pioneer. A talon r is next years goal

    My only complaint with my pioneer is that there is no factory cab option. Love the compact size with the versatility of 5 seats or a large bed.

    I have had multiple RZRs and really enjoyed them. They are more sporty than the Honda Pioneer but now that I have a Pioneer 1000 I sold all my RZRs and ride a bit slower. It got tiring always keeping up with the RZR breakdowns and up keep. I just get in the Pioneer and ride and never have to fix anything like I constantly did with the RZRs.

    Like I've told everyone, you what performance in an ATV or SxS, it's the same as having a muscle car you take to the track. Play hard, pay hard. It's not that a Honda is more reliable, it's that youre driving it within it's engineered mechanical limits. If you beat the tar out of a pioneer, it'll need repairs too.

    Actually, statistically speaking, the Honda IS more reliable.

    @@stevejones6802 actually, every Honda owner I know that trail rides has bad wheel bearing quickly. Actually, 3 owners I know all with 2018 and newer which covers 2 models ALL have transmission issues. Of the three, 2 have been in the shop multiple times with no solutions, the third had it in the shop 13x and I Ly after a dozen replacement parts, riding with a co.puter module to analyze the riding, and 13,000kms+ did they finally replace the ATV. So no, they aren't reliable. Maybe really old ones are. But the odds of three people all having the same issue tells me they actually aren't more reliable. If the 8 KQ 750 owners I know, plus I've owned one, none have had a single issue. I have a 2017 AC, no issues, and if the 2 Polaris 850's I've owned/own, the only issue was the starters on both. Both dies just out of warranty, both oddly were replaced with a better designed one. Which begs the question, why not just use the good one in the first place lol

    @@stevejones6802 and 3 old guys using them on a farm must mean they are reliable. Lol The 3 are 2018 and newer, all have the same major issue with the transmission. All 3 had bad bearings in the first 1.5 years. Even my Polaris doesn't have worn bearings yet and they're known for it and I ride in rougher terrain than the 3 with Honda's. One is female and 65+, rides a lot. The other two, one is late 40's, rides a few times per year and only on nice trails and fire roads and washes it after every ride. The third is also older and rides a few times per year. To be in a rural area and all three have a major issue is statistically difficult to say it's just bad luck. It's easier to say that Honda's reliability is no more a thing. However, I have yet to see anyone with a 750 KQ have issues. And around here, KQ's are as popular as Can-Am's.

    Yeah i agree man 5 seats if you need them and it doesn't have to be a mile long.. i keep trying to talk my sister into me and her trading our quads for a pioneer but all she cares about is looks and "coolness" she want s a razer i told her its stupid only a 2 seater at least with 2 quads you can have 4 people.. then sh says we can just get a 4 seat model.. yeah and then a new trailer and then cant go down half the trails we go down.not to mention its like 40k vs 23k for the 100-5

    The FOX Shocks are the reason to buy the TRAIL. Everything else is fluff. Remove the rear sway bar and it will ride and handle even better. My 2016 is getting a set of Fox Shocks ASAP. Many incremental changes from the 2016-2021 models, many of these changes are not apparent. Cooling system upgrades, revised frame, revised PCM tuning, revised gearing in reverse and main transmission, more heat isolation, just to mention a few. The Pioneer is a very good unit, my 2016 is tough as nails and the 2022 is even better.

    My dad has the pioneer 1000 5 seater. It goes great everywhere and I like that they have no belts. Be warned though they have issues with their low range popping out of gear after they get a little time on them. My dads has currently 1400 miles on it and yesterday we actually had to adjust it again. If you look into it, it’s a common issue. However that buggy goes everywhere as long as you don’t high center and it is great for yard/farm work

    I don't know if its just the camera view but both versions look like a really rough ride. I find its weird that Honda uses the same V twin motor in their Africa twin bike (which I have) for their side by sides as well. In the bike that motor is perfect, but I would think it would be a bit under powered for a heavier side by side?

  • @mlynch001

    @mlynch001

    Not a "V-Twin" the engine is a parallel twin. Two cylinders side by side. The Africa Twin makes a little over 100 horsepower, the PIONEER about 75. This engine is tuned for reliability and low RPM grunt. They can be modified and tuned to exceed even the 100 horses of the Africa Twin.

    What a silly premise for a title. Of course you can have fun on a trail with a utility-first side by side. All you need to do to tell is go out to any mud park or event and you'll see hundreds of utility-first side by sides out there and everyone with a smile on their face.
