I know you posted this 4 years ago, but I’m so glad you did. I just bought a Mini Countryman (I’m smitten!) and found this rooftop tent and was hoping someone did a review of it. Thanks!

Interesting idea. Could it be used on any car?

As tempting as it may be to sleep on top of our car... After watching your videos (some of them many times) we finally took the plunge and ordered our California today :-D It's not delivered until March, so hopefully you guys will continue putting out your great videos between now an then to fill the void whilst we wait. Thanks for your great videos guys, we love them.

Camp in my Mini a few times a month.

Nice. But I go camping in my Mini Cooper convertible. A Vango AirBeam is a bit cheaper! Not much protection against lions, though!

Very very cool idea to get noticed. Great talking point. Felt my trailer tent better though .just cool..of thread now i watched review on the aldi tv thinking about getting similar do you really need it. Do always take it away ..did you use on your honey moon

We always have the TV with us but we haven’t used it a huge amount. It’s just there for emergencies (when we have ran out of things to talk about)!

When you're in the tent how on earth could you minimise the ladder down? And when it's down how to get it up to climb down again.? I think it'll need to stay attached to the mini home all night. A dog up with you would be handy as a guard.

I’m glad someone else noticed that they mean the ladder can be stored in the tent at night if your concerned about security. Total faff…just get a lock from your tyre spokes to the ladder. Sorted!

What a silly question. Same thing when camping on the ground someone can just walk in 🤦🏼

I'd like to know where the ladder is stored when the tent is closed.

John McFarland just on the mattress towards the back. There’s enough space for it when closed.

Can you imagine the little whimpers and then muffled but very persistent woofing from you know who downstairs in the car ...all night?

it's pretty rare that you can sleep with your car in most festivals so i'm not sure it's much use for that but it's nice for people to camp with

lettucefire yer and this is unlikely to be aloud in the campervan field at festivals either.

Good for keeping out of the ants and (further) away from snakes here in Aus.

Will this go on a mini paceman?

Problem: a lot of roof racks have low load ratings. They aren't designed to handle the weight of people, damaging the mounts and roof

Roof racks have a dynamic weight rating. That means the weight of the object plus wind resistance. I would imagine wind resistance at substantial speeds while the car is jiggling and bumping about would be much more strain on the hardware than sleeping. Perhaps avoid rough adult activities and you will be fine.

Mini roof racks have load rating of 165lbs. I believe that is dynamic rating. They can take more load if it is Static.

Great concept but pretty hefty price tag, also would not want to navigate my way out if I needed to pee in the night 😫

I know you guys probably don’t have control over who does the close captioning… But the things they write are freaking hilarious… Like mini Cooper ass instead of mini Cooper S🤣

If you take the front seat out one person can camp in a mini, however it will put a airbag warning light on. Great for alcoholics if you can use the pub car park.

I absolutely love my fart proof fake leather seats!

Roof tents are far from new. Personally I'd buy an estate car if I wanted to sleep in it.

The clubman is actually the biggest mini not the countryman

You didn't show how to "unfold" the tent! - Usually the fabric gets stuck in the actuators and holes appear !

You can put this on anything - has pretty much nothing to do with an Mini.

That's not camping IN a Mini. That's camping ON TOP of a Mini.
