Can you GET a better hull? - Valhalla 41 TEST DRIVE

Valhalla Boatworks is a spin off from Viking Yachts Company so the pedigree was already established when this Valhalla 41 first hit the water. But hype doesn't always stand up to the test so together with the boats skipper and a Viking owner we spent an entire day testing this boat and CRIKEY she's a bloody weapon!
If you are looking for the ultimate machine to power you up and down the rough waters of our coastline this is it! Yes she's a little heavier and requires a tad more horsepower than some of the designs you see me test, but quite seriously if you just want the best and are prepared to pay for it, then from what I learned onboard this Valhalla 41 I would suggest that this is it.
When I find a better hull I'll tell you. But for now - this is it.

I own a Metal Shark Fearless 32. With same Hull SVVT designed by Micheal Peters. Great boat.
Incredible boat !!! But your question is can you get a better hull? The correct question is can you get a better hull than the Michael Peters SVVT hull. Now this hull is undoubtedly one of the best riding hulls on the market, however it was designed almost 20 years ago. If you dont think in the last 20 years with the advancements in fluid dynamic software there isnt a better riding more advanced hull design, I think you should look at the "Next Step" hull on the new Phenom yachts.

I’d love to try the next step hull if I’m given an opportunity. The Valhalla to me is taking a tried and tested approach and just perfecting it into something that’s truely awesome. I’m fairly familiar with all the latest hull designs in the Adventure Boat category having driven all of them and that’s a true advancement in fluid dynamics. When it comes to heavier hulls designed for the US market I can see some are going for speed and others are going for offshore handling. Also some designs appear to have flying across short sharp chop in mind when others are focused on true offshore. So yeah… more hills to test and more builders to meet and I’ll just keep learning and sharing with you guys.

Amazing right! I'd like one of these in Malaysia. Fuel is 70 cents and I could rip up to Thailand for long weekends and run from pirates in the Malacca Straights like a boss.

Rafnar or this? For hull design and open sea worthiness

Depends on the mission. Rafnar is very capable in rough water. Very wet - but very capable. Valhalla is faster, dryer and extremely refined however if i needed to pull a fast turn to avoid an Iranian gun boat lobbing lead my way i'd want to be in the Rafnar.
is this a better boat all round compared to the Regulator 41 foot you tested last year?

The Regulator is amazing in rough water so if that's your mission she's still appropriate for sure. But the Valhalla is more refined and clearly faster so if that's what you seek then Valhalla could be the boat. For me personally i'll take the extra speed yes.
42 yellow fin is half the price and just as fast with quad 300!
Freeman eats this boat, 24/7!

Currently the Valhalla is the best monohull of this style I have ever driven in the ocean - period. I have driven multiple Hydra Sports (2008 era) from 22 - 33ft
You need to test mti v, and cat hulls and you will experience true speed. Also dcb boats. 😉

I would LOVE that! My cousin Stu has access to lot's of those in Florida so would be sweet to go and learn about the whole Poker Run scene up there one day.
That boat is for the guy who like sportfishers but with less headache. It gets much better than this in the center console world. Freeman, contender, yellowfin, invincible are better options for fishing. And faster than this one.
Prowler 42 has twice the space and far more stable… walk the boat and be your own judge. You’ll never miss that bounce or bow rise…
A Bahama 41 also is another to look at

The hull on the Bahama 41 is not stepped and hasn't been updated in more than 20 yrs. Hard pass.

I agree on the non step but quad 350's vs 400's on the Valhalla 61vs 72mph..so maybe 5mph difference. Also planes at 19mph. 230-260k less with excellent quality. Is it a Valhalla...no... just another option for the guys that need to save some coin and can do with less flash and still want a excellent quality made boat@@Reload77725

I think we're talking about the steering know that could crack your nuts if it was in the wrong position. I feel it's not an issue on this boat due to the amount of space you have at the helm to assume a good stance in rough water and just how bloody great the hull is when she lands off a big one.

I would be very interested in testing but at this stage i've not had a chance so can't comment with any real knowledge yet.
Now just close the bow and you have an actually seaworthy boat :)

I can also think of some cool and unique designs that would suit this hull too. But she's very much a seaworthy boat as she is too. Just need to drive it properly in the big stuff - like all boats.
