Back when I had my Z71 I ran a Texas Speed head/cam combo with an RPM trans on spray, and never had any 4wd launch issues.

I think I may still lean to a turbo kit for the 03 Envoy 5.3. Seems to be less complicated of a install than an LSA and for an SUV, I'll probably benefit more from the MPG of a turbo. She nets in at 4800 lbs (extended wheel base version). 3.73 rear and superbly shitty 4L60E.

Wife has an 04 suburban, and she's about to get something newer... 12.9 for a big ass Tahoe is plenty fast, especially for a daily... changing the wheels would drop your gear ratio, but you'd probably run into that running out of fuel faster too.. nice build man, don't know of anyone else building common sense street rods... they all have "single turbo thousand horse" blahs blahs blahs that wouldn't last a year daily driving

I've got a factory 5.7 ltr in a 1996 Tahoe 4x4. I've built it a bit. Headers, high performance electronics. I'm pushing between 350hp and 375hp. Not what you've got but I use the same exhaust you do. And I get almost 20mpg on the hwy. I'd get into way too much trouble with that much power!

I have a 5.3L, 6 speed & 3.43 gears. It’s gutless, but also has been very reliable. Would you put 4.10’s or go with the supercharger? Truck is a 4x4, so gearing my get expensive.

Stock motor should be fine. And yes, LS Simple kits work good now.

I did too same time as well 2005. I didn't realize the Vortecs were LS I thought they were like the northstars of Chevy trucks LOL. After researching the thing hell I'm glad I bought mine for sure. I need some smaller tires and better wheels. My is geared and intake that's it

I bought an 02 5.3 and aside from 19’ heavy duty snow tires (which required an inch lift) and basic upkeep, nothing major has been needed, extremely reliable suvs and fun for drifting in the WI snow. Bodywork hasn’t held up nearly as good though, mostly because the same WI snow lol.

Hey new to the channel but seems cool im 19 and I've got an 05 Tahoe 275,000 had to rebuild the rear end back in April and just put a rebuilt 4l60e in it with performance 3-4 clutches and Corvette servo and a flowmaster super 10 dumped i know the motor may abandon me soon so could I get some advice on future budget power on the new 5.3

you can do awd launches its not gonna hurt it im runing a 06 subarban with a LSX 454 that makes 753 on the dyno with stock driveline parts it can take it and never given me a complaint itsmy daily

With the injector swap and e85 I don't think your DIC is correct for mpg anymore. Am I right? Or off base?

Ive had a 2006 Tahoe PPV for a while with 4:11 gears on 4 speed tranny, track suspension, and hydro boost braking on a 4.7 L V8, haven’t done much to it as it already seems to dog any other Tahoe I’ve met. Including SS. I got the same belt problem too and the larger radiator but it likes to heat up when sitting due to a higher rpm idle for amped up alternator (higher voltage for police equipment). I thought about selling it as it’s approaching 185k but I’ve com to find I have a rare beast that’s in demand. What upgrades do you recommend? Trying to keep the sleeper look. I’m in GA, born in Charlotte, maybe link up for a show as I DJ a ton here. Just can’t find many Tahoe performance minded folks, their all Lambos and Porches here. I’m know as the chaser or driver x for dry runs, I don’t have stability track or any restrictions. No redline. And when I pass police doing 130 mph they sit confused wondering if I’m a cop or not lol. Knock on wood. Nice job man! Let’s link up!

I have a tahoe z71 5.3 04, no lights or codes, and when it's on hills it will start dropping rpms when at idel, no misfire while driving and usually wont do it on, I've replaced the fuse box, throttle body, cam sensors, all new spark plugs and spark wires, air intake, it drives fine anyone have any idea what would cause it

Get a 200 shot of nos and put a big ass spoiler on that bad boy also a cat eye conversion

Honeslty vivid racing supplies Procharger supercharger. (Procharger is the company). I’m supercharging my 05 6.0 and the tuner kit for it is just shy of 6k. Granted I will need about 400 worth of new Injectors and I will be installing a cam and springs but if you just wanted a supercharger you could easily do it yourself for 7k. They’re pretty much bolt on. That 6k kit also includes and inter cooler which is not necessary if your not lookin for 6-700hp.

Can you find out what stage cam did you use? I have a 2004 Tahoe with a 5.3 and looking install a cam but it is going to be a daily driver .

Hey man I got some questions since you mod your Tahoe. I have an 02 GMC Yukon and i had it dyno tuned in 2016 with headers full exhaust intake and ignition done to it. The numbers came to 231 hp and 285 torque on 91 octane. To me that seems a bit low, later on I had changed the fuel filter to which I found it very black after I cut it open. Someone else had a bone stock Tahoe of the same year and engine and had it tuned and got 247 hp on 87 octane which is a reason why I think theres something wrong with mine. It's the 5.3 liter L59 motor with 4x4. Oh the dyno is a AWD dyno, could doing the run in 4hi vs 2hi cause this 16hp difference between the two despite me having more done to my engine?

But at the same time... that shop that did it... I wouldn't put it past them to just run it on the dyno and get the numbers and print it out without actually tuning it. But I didn't think that back in 2016. Only started to realize that about them later on when friends of mine dealt with them. Recommended any good tuners in the South Carolina/ North Carolina area? Charlotte isn't but a couple hours away for me anyway.
