Nice challenge, forces you to speedrun in different cars! In only play TDU on Platinum mod these days which has way more variety in the available rental cars. But that mod has so many cars I actually very rarely have to use rentals for a specific race. I usually own good cars from every class and when an event calls for a specific car I usually buy it. Its usually not worth visiting every rental place just to search for a car they dont have :)

Does TDU Platinum work on Windows 11? For tdu2 it doesn't because of NET Framework

This was my all-time favorite game. I wore out six copies of it and for this day is STILL one of the best ever free roam racing games.

@DoVe_7 based on a veteran TDU player perspective (myself), sadly I can say that you can't ever beat TDU with just rental vehicles. To officially beat the whole single player campaign you would need to get at least 89%, that includes winning all the races and completing the side missions. 12 of the 120 single player races were motorcycle races and motorcycles can't be rented, and several cars required for certain side missions were not available in any rental lot (e.g. the Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG, Jaguar E-Type Coupe, Shelby GT500 and even the Saturn Sky you bought as your first car).

​​​@DoVe_7 Actually as a veteran player of both TDU and TDUP, I still can say that it was way more harder and also impossible to beat the game with rental vehicles only. In TDUP, motorcycles were still unavailable in rental lots, and more of the cars required for several side missions were unavailable in rental lots (a lot more than the vanilla TDU) - I remembered that the Maserati Spyder Cambiocorsa, Ascari KZ1 and TVR Sagaris were no longer being available on the rental lots anymore.

I don't know why i'm saying this, but here's a small tip for keyboard users: The game allows clutch manual even when using keyboard inputs, forcing you to clutch manually (comparing to certain other games where you can still do clutchless shifts regardless) If you set up a config where the clutch and the shift controls are close to each other, it will seem that you can shift gears as quick as you want as long as you perform the key combinations correctly! With enough practice, this can be used to bypass shifting times in manual cars, and possibly save time lost in between gears! (Reminder: this doesn't work with sequential transmission cars!)

I would've allowed buying cars since you would need them to gain points. Although i wouldn't have used my main car to discover rental cars

There's a time I crashed into traffic or there's a time I crashed into walls or something and this is a bit joke and the better I do some other better races lmao until I can figure out about this...

Oh man, I remember the miljonair challenge, I loved how long it was for the challenge of endurance, But i also hated how long it was for that same reason.

I'd be more interested to know how to beat TDU in the year of our lord 2023, last time I played it on a modern PC the map literally stopped rendering 5 minutes in.

Dude way back in 2006/7 when TDU came out, I badly wanted the Maserati mc12 and was trying to grind $ by winning races & doing car deliveries. It was a slow grind & usually car deliveries will only show up when you’ve driven past them right? Mind you I was a dumb 11 year old kid then. But one day, i switched the game up, it restarted & there were millions & also all hidden location/activities were shown. To this day idk if it’s a glitch, or I did something. Was able to easily purchase the mc12, Enzo, murcielago etc and the expensive house on the hilltop all within that day! I wonder if anyone else has experienced the same 😂

I've played and beaten TDU 1 on every platform it was on, including PS2 & PSP 😅 I actually had the PSP version first, it's nothing short of amazing the game fit on a UMD

I have a challenge for you TDU two with only spending $500000 dollars I don’t even know if this is possible so some rules to make it easier are if you sell a car whatever it was worth you will get back as spendable money so to do this I would recommend only buying cars from the used car and buy the cheapest things possible

You must do so also in the PS2 version.

I love TDU1, played it for hundreds of hours on the PSP, but recently did a vanilla PC playthrough and the traffic was unbearably broken (cars brake checking you, swerving left and right, ramming you, etc.), while one of the two cop cars was straight up invisible (so I'd crash into it and get wanted level, especially annoying in delivery missions since I'd crash into thin air and get a wanted level), how did you deal with the traffic? I was forced to use a mod that removes traffic and it made the game infinitely more enjoyable, but I don't see the problem being as bad on your end, using some special version of the game?

@@maxshykhov7518 It's BOTH invisible cop cars and weird traffic (it will even teleport between lanes or turn 90° on a literal straight highway), so I just used the mod to fully remove traffic altogether (only the NPCs you can put stakes against are left).

@@hexagonalcarbon Usually that fixes things, but it doesn't on my end. Also, I'm running it on Windowed mode to use with Windowed Fullscreen Gaming so I can stream it and Windowed mode ignores any framerate options (V-sync and frame limit in settings), resulting in the game running at 150+FPS for me. At least my skybox looks gorgeous and not a broken mess like Dove's does lol

@@tho_tho you can either force vsync in the GPU control panel(if the monitor allows 60 Hz refresh rate) or force the framerate limit via bandicam/rivatuner

The car list on this game is much better than tdu2. A lot of classic sports/supercars like the Gransport, 575, DB7 Zagato, XJ220, McLaren F1 etc.

watched only 3 seconds of video but can say - yes you can, but only if you disable car category restriction

I've only ever played the PS2 version. The PC version seems to have better graphics and more cars, but the progression and event variety seems very lacking. Why is the PS2 version so different?

It was meant for the xbox360 which was the next generation and that version also went to the pc version but the ps2 couldn't handle the game without major changes and downgrades.

@@Arexion5293 so these comments - and others i had seen in the past stating their preference for the port - inspired me to try out the ps2 version out of curiosity as ive only ever played the 360/pc version. the fact that the port exists - with the full map, cockpit view and everything - is seriously impressive. and also to this game's credit, the handling feels pretty decent and i would say the ai (on hard) is usually at least a bit faster and smarter than on the pc version, making for the occasional interesting race. but thats really all the good things i have to say after spending the last couple weeks completing it. i dont understand how the progression is "far superior" in this version when it works basically the same way, accumulating points and ranking up to unlock more events. on 360/pc you earn points through challenges/achievements while on ps2 you earn them through drifting, jumping, etc, but the end result and pacing is very similar unless you intentionally try to cheese it. and similarly, both are open-ended and dont really have a proper "ending" aside from eventually having completed every race. really the biggest difference is the amount of prize cars youre handed in the ps2 version, which actually makes the progression more trivial imo. likewise i dont see how the event variety is better either. the ps2 version does have a bit more events in the normal race/speed/time categories, but it also completely lacks any of the transport/courier/hitchhiker/model missions, which imo are one of the best parts of the game. also very few of the events have any sort of specific vehicle restrictions besides class which i thought was a little disappointing and made the events blend together more. in turn for lacking the missions, the only thing the ps2 version gets in return are series races - which are kinda neat in their theming, but function basically the same as normal races - and clubs. the club races, while a really cool idea on paper, were one of the most mind-numbingly boring and tedious things ive ever done in a racing game. since all of them are just randomized "drive to this point" with no checkpoints, the routes are almost always the straightest and least interesting possible, with no unique distinctions to make them not repetitive. and the ai is so slow in these races that i could easily beat drivers in supercars while i was in a class D car. thats well over 100 short one-on-one races to get through for completion, and im not sure there was a single exciting moment in any of them. as the one big unique feature that this version had going for it, i was really disappointed by the reality of them. all these things plus other smaller issues - the traffic pop-in and low framerate, the total lack of manual transmission, the notable omissions from the car list, the gps constantly telling me to drive on the wrong side of the highway, all the map locations being visible from the start and killing the sense of discovery... i respectfully cannot imagine seeing the ps2 version as the superior one while having played both of them. in fact i found myself watching videos of people playing the pc version and thinking "man, i wish i was playing that instead... wait, why am i even still playing this version?" but at least now i can say ive experienced it.

Impossible. If you want to beat the entire single player game you need to get at least 89%. Also, some class A races were restricted to cars only, and PC version doesn't get the Audi A4 Touring Car.
