Had the most fun of all ps2 games I've played with prostreet. Speed challenges were frustrating as hell but had a lot of fun with this game. Probably my favourite nfs game

I played the wii version alot and my friend played the ps3 version alot and I had him do one speed challenge and he hated the motion controls 🤣 I'm finally on a fully patched pc version now

the drift physics in nfs games are difficult to get the hang of because they hold your hand so much that the car doesn't actually behave like you'd expect it to anymore

My man... Ryan COOPER! Yeah that S13 is just cracked. Gets you through so much of the early game and can compete with G effect's first league pretty convincing.

@@realmustangboy6437 The S13 is a solid car, fully upgraded it's amazing in both drift and drag racing. it's strong enough to beat G-effect events, and the only RYO grip races it struggles with is the first race in the tightest corners. Absolutely do not recommend it for speed challenge though, it bounces all over the place. you have to NOS your way through the worst parts of Nevada just to keep the car from going airborne. If it leaves the ground, you're dead. but I can confirm, you can beat Prostreet and dominate every race day using just the S13. I made 4 replicas of the starter car just to beat Ryo lol

Recently found a copy of Pro Street in a second hand game shop. Unfortunately the only console I have left is my daughters Wii U. So I'm now playing Pro Street on Wii. And I'm still bloody loving it. Such a good game when it came out and still a good game now.

Need For Speed Shift was the first NFS game to do track racing properly in my opinion, I don't understand how anyone can like ProStreet, it lacked the fun customization of silly things like doors and subwoofers from Underground and it lacked any of the "real" (ish) racing physics of Shift, as well as of course lacking any Police chasing from MW/Carbon That's the thing that has forever amazed me about Need For Speed though, unlike most game series where there is a general consensus of 80% of the playerbase or more what the best game in the series is, the playerbase for NFS all seem to have widely different opinions on what is best and what is worst.

ProStreet, after all those years, its still a gem Edit: Also you can try the A.I Tweak mod combined with the Handling overhaul mod, It makes It a true challenge

The shootout really depends on the car. Like in that event in Battle Machine when you can pick either the Z or the Golf. I can always win every shootout with the Golf but not with the Z. It feels like different cars have different difficulty levels with this event

True. Audi S4 and TT are one of the best in sector shootout. I'm always wondered how Henrik Dehn could show so good results on so slow car, until I took seat in the S4 myself. Audi-S4 is slow and unstable, but it allows you to stamp 400+ points sectors with ease

Yes, it does seem to change depending on the car, and it also seems to change depending on if its your first playthrough or not. Same cars same difficulty, first playthrough is a cake walk, second is a lot more difficult.

If you didn't know the points do deplete at different rates depending on the car. I've found the Ford GT the most reliable late game car for those races as she is plenty quick but with a point drain that isn't pure nonsense. The worst part is that the lead car in the first lap has a MASSIVE advantage since they get points for every sector by virtue of being the first through the goals so unless you sweep you can't win.

imagine if you had to take down each of the 3 members of the king's team before being able to race them on tracks that theyre the best at. Like for geffect, having to beat the race day and then Gavin May in a solo race to progress to Henrick Dehn and his race day and then Rudy to get Krieger's sight. if protstreet could be modded that much id love to see this game get the dlc it deserves!

Theoretically that is what happens in the game, if you hear closely to the show promoters, in both the showdowns and specific king race days, they name Takeshi Sato, Gavin May, Tony Manilla, etc saying how they are great drivers. When you dominate the race day they always say something like "I can't believe _____ just lost to Ryan Cooper", so what you are saying is true :)

ProStreet Soundtrack slap my heart Isn't the best series, but the frickin variety just made it so iconic I download the entire ost as well (Can't wait April for PogStreet)

The best thing about the soundtrack isn't that the songs are bangers, let's be honest, they're not. It's that they suit the atmosphere of ProStreet so damn well that you enjoy listening to them regardless. Compare Forza Horizon 1 to Horizon 5, i detest some of FH1's songs but they vibe well with the atmosphere of the game. FH5's soundtrack is very 'meh' in comparison because the game has no soul.

I remember playing this game, I lovee it. I always found it annoying that if I do a race, if I restart it the handling is way less stiff and I'm way faster for some reason

My favorite wheelie car was a fully modded S15. That car can wheelie the entire track if you hit the nitrous as soon as the nose is in the air

I finished the PS2 version yesterday through the emulator it has for Android phones. Someone created an HD texture pack for the PS2 version, and with upscaling, CAS, and some shaders the game looks really nice on my phone.

I always loved the race in the desert against the bride drivers where sometimes everyone crashed at first jump

Back on my ps2 days I'd use the unlock all cheat code and get all the reward cars and go straight to boss challenges, I used to use the reward cars only just like this. MEMORIES

rewatched the no money spent challenge tomorrow, and got this today

You know, with how immediate the car totals when it lands upside down on the road, it makes you wonder if the cops programmed this game? Like think about it, in this era of NFS titles, if the cops just so happened to flip their car upside down, their cruisers immediately get totaled.

5:35 Agree, NFSPS has amazing crash physics. Also, Rigs of Rods (basically a prequel to BeamNG) was arround since 2005, but i don't think many PC's could run it.

Anyone else think it's really damn funny that the E92 M3 is actually hot garbage in Grip races and Rudy Chen was the only Grip Runners member with a good Grip car (i still hear many agonizing over having to deal with his 911 while also noting how pathetically slow Ray Krieger is)? Also the SL65 is surprisingly insanely fast in Grip events. Doesn't handle great (expected but it's also not that detrimental) but it has immense acceleration and speed to make up for it.

The only nfs that used clutch. One of the reason why I loved it.

...I'm pretty sure I've inadvertently done this in my playthroughs xD The reward cars are good.

Personally myself when i was a kid i played prostreet on the wii and fun fact the speed challenges were a lot easier with the steering wheel for the remote, i had a ton more control with it

My first exposure to PS was also on Wii, speed challenges were great fun with motion control. drag on the other hand... ugh. trying not to accidentally steer by tilting the wii remote to the side while having to shift by making a downwards motion was pain.

The brakelights actually only show up when ABS is working its magic in this game. But theres also a fix for that on the internet.

Prostreet was by far the most underrated NFS game at the time of its release. And it honestly aged much better than MW or Carbon

I mod the hell out of it specifically on the physics,I wanna drift with grip physics but I disable all the brake assist,TCS level etc.Tbh grip handling feels realistic when you drift it but if you disable the assist using vlted

Honestly i'm almost finishing NFS ProStreet for the first time (yes, i never went too far in the PS2), and i love the game. Especially fun is always using the far camera for everything. I don't mind the extra camera shake, and that speed challenges are harder when that means i get a better sense of speed. Also, Neveda + far cam + F1 is just bonkers. 10/10 recommend.

Just finished a playthrough with a logitech wheel. Using a stage 4 F1 on Nevada was bonkers, one of the few moments in my gaming history where I had to physically catch my breath after finishing the level lmao

Pretty sure the only NFS that using clutch is recommended.

I remember when I was younger, I bought the Evo to try and beat him but kept losing lmao...i cried several times till I found out that if he totaled then I won.

For anyone in the future having this problem, hit F5 on the keyboard, THEN go into the garage to unlock Stage 4 parts. Remember to hit F5 again before leaving if you don't want to unlock all of the race days. If you do accidentally unlock them all, just go back into the garage, hit F5 and they will revert back to being locked.

Nate Denver is extremely good at what he's doing, his car is pure raw shit but he still managed to be the king

On the ps3 the game doesn't have super promotion challenge race day and you have to make yourself a wheelie car

Oh hell ya, are you kidding? Make the civic into a grip car (it slays till tier 3) make the 240 a drag car until you get the 350z or the Supra at which point the 240 can be your drift car till whenever and then keep the Viper for speed races, don't even need the boss cars

we just need NFS pro street 2 and world peace will be achieved.

I refuse to believe that Ryan's story ends after him getting busted in NFS Undercover (based on the police chatter). It's uncertain wether he is the same Cooper racing in the last race of Payback or not but I do want to see him making a comeback. And maybe finally a face reveal lol. Imagine the game letting you drive only as one guy with one name and not even being able to see his face.

@@royliber3824 Nah they straight up need to leave him alone. The reason he had no dialogue and was surgically bonded with his racing helmet was to create an insert for us, the player. Sharing a last name with him is also pretty cool for me, I remember my dad freaking the fuck out because he thought the game read out my full name (it didn't) and I had to prove it was just a coincidence that my name was close to his lol

What can i do, to not get crashing at drag races ?? It always crashs It when i start drag.

Regarding the music this game is king together with MostWanted. I replayed it recently, it has a great driving feel whcih also comes from great engine sounds as well as the handling, and damage model. The atmosphere depicting race festivals could only be supassed by Horizon years later. What I didnt like is the aweful drift handling ( cant even be corrected with mods) and the short carrer ( why can Ryo be beaten without having to beat the other kings first?)

The only thing that ruined this game for me was that once I beat it the next day it said corrupt file and that kept happening everytime I would beat it.

Carbon's drifting model was absurd, but honestly it was absurd in a good way to me because you could drift at Ridge Racer or Initial D speeds (and I'm fond of those games).
