Too easy save for the Magic side forking tower/required bosses IMMUNE to it BUT the only WAY TO kill 6x Black Flames in world 1 is to use gil toss itself but you'd end up SPENDING MORE gil then what they drop but in order to Gil toss all bosses NOT immune its best to farm 500,000 to 1 MILLION gil off of the 6x Black Flames IN world 1. Its just that you only get like 850 or so gil by killing 6x Black Flames but since they have like around 250 to 300 HP each you would SPEND more then 850 gil USING Gil toss to kill all 6 at once. Sadly the Samurai class has NO weapons that could kill all 6 Black Flames in world 1 at once.

IIRC, Sulla rated Samurai as the #1 Job for Solo Character and Job challenges. The Elf Cape + Main Gauche + passive Dodge + Shield makes it difficult to take damage from Physical attacks, and that's not factoring HP and Defense with the Heavy armor. Damage low? Throw money, and somehow everything dies like its nothing. Legit, Samurai is the Pay2Win job.

When I first got ahold of the rom back in the day when I found a full translation, and had no clue what the hell I was doing because you have to beat it once before you use a walkthrough, gp toss was how I beat the game lol

about that their are NOT enough Elf Capes in game by default ONLY 3 exist and I'm not sure if you can STEAL a 3rd one as for the Main Gauche I'm not even sure its buyable while Samurai's CAN equip the STOLEN Genji armor sets theirs really no way to STEAL them the 3rd and 4th Gilgamesh battles IN WORLD 2 require to STEAL it since the Thief Knife is a WORLD 3 only weapon.

But I tend to NEVER do SOLO run in the first place since FF5 is still easier with 4x Samurai users and with a FULL party as Samurai's you still can't get 4x Elf Capes/Main Gauche's and while the Genji armor set can be used by them the first 2 of those HAS to be stolen off of Gilgamesh since you won't have the Thief Knife YET. Gilgamesh VS Necrophobe has the FINAL Genji armor set to steal SO if you can get Gilgmesh to show up then DO try to steal it.

I dunno if there's a difference between pc and mobile but part of the reason your physical attacks seemed to be doing so little for a while is because Mineuchi actually deals HALF damage and paralyzes enemies. I figured this out when I decided to use it with the chicken knife in a fiesta run in PR, and I even went back and did some testing with it to double check that was still the case.

Only Samurai? Well, my boy, the answer is simple: CASH MONEY 💰

Probably even stronger in a limited-job run because you can just sell everything that you know you won't be able to use with the jobs you're using that run.

When I used to work as a projectionist for a local movie theater, I would play this game all night at work. I've beaten it so many times, it's a great game to just experiment with.

Just tossing this out there, not sure if you were already doing it, but for the rod-smashing trick on Freelancer, you can still get the 50% damage bonus by also having a rod of the same element equipped on the smasher (which you can of course change to mid-battle, even). If you weren't already doing that, it might make things a little easier next time around!

Funny to see me Finish Like a Dragon Ishin Last night and get graced with more samurai content the next day that I never knew I wanted. Truly a Blessing…of the Emperor.

I've never had any interest in playing Final Fantasy V. But after watching your videos, my interest is really growing. And this pixel remaster looks sharp.

Honestly, I'm liking the Pixel Remaster a lot. I think I'd be hard pressed to play the original these days. I dont own the others at the moment but thats probably what I'd be most interested in playing.

Berserker only is very possible, on all versions of the game.

Been thinking about the comment at the end of the video and... Yeah, it's actually kind of sad how despite how iconic it is, dragoon never fails to be an awkward and inefficient class. Even in the bravely series it's still only been "okay". Though I hear it's gotten a lot better in ff14 at least. Alas, jump as a mechanic is novel but just too impractical.

Next time on Backlog Buster: Every fight is the Garuda fight from FF3! If nothing else, that means nobody gets squished thanks to a Dragoon being in the air...since they'll all be in the air.

I definitely approve of parking a save at the earth crystal. That's just smart. Somehow I completely forgot about Iainuki. Was trying to guess whether the final Samurai ability was Shirahadori or !EqKatana. :D "I-am-nuking" made me laugh. Achelon absolutely deserve to be ginsu-d, screw those guys in particular. On paper, I know that some abilities don't count as physical or magical 'attacks.' Seeing TwinTania sit down and take your golden shower is a different story. Not sure if Haste accelerates the Doom counter in the pixel remaster. Because that would only make the NeoExdeath win even more impressive.

Samurai introduces pay to win in a single player game, now that I think about it, haha.

One of the fun things about these sort of challenges is finding out things that are actually useful that you wouldn't learn in a normal run through the game. For example it is nice seeing you learn how things like 2 handed from Knight is useful and the group instant kill attack from money cannon job also known as samurai is also busted on it. Shame you didn't get chicken knife though.

When normal runs usually recommend you with "Dualcast, Dual Weild, Spellblade, Rapidfire" route, it's easy to overlook other niche abilities.

I remember when I first unlocked Samurai and spammed Zeninage because it was so powerful and then it stopped working. And the next time I visited a shop, I saw that I had no money and was so confused.

I haven't watched the vid yet but I'm gonna answer the question anyway. YES

That and Rods as items ONLY work on the JOB classes that CAN USE them so yes you would need 2 of your Samurai's TO equip Reflect rings and let that boss die from its own spells BUT the Reflect mages barrier tower in world 2 almost NEVER DROP Them so the ONLY way around that is to Thief Knife 1 of your Samurai's and try to STEAL them off 1 of the Phoenix Tower enemies before fighting it.

I’m replaying ff5 now myself Gil toss is the most comically overpowered thing lol

I believe you can beat Omniscient - I mean, without that hours-long wait - with a Mage Masher, as Silence apparently stops the return gimmick. Which, upon reflection, means Berserkers are actually plausible as the only Job without access to magic or the Mage Masher is the Monk.

Mage Masher isn't 100% so its still worthless when you attack that boss with it EVEN the WHITE mage/Spell blade version won't always work on it.

Red Mage is just going to be another rod smasher, but a little slower because their Magic stat is pretty low. Also, unlike Blue Mage, they cannot equip shields.

Red Mage peaks at Karnak, so yeah, its rod smashing all the way. It doesn't even get the good white magic like protect/shell iirc. Dualcast Level 2 spells is still worse than smashing a rod unfortunately.

That's too easy too bad as free lancers mastering Monk SUCKS that's why even for KoTR Counter Mime FF7 setups NEVER use the PURPLE counter attack materia ever since if you do once your HIT causing Counter attack to trigger you'll end up using a useless physical hit with Mime and NOT KoTR against Emerald/Ruby weapon. So for Endless Bahamut summons/4x Gil toss users in the Mime/Freelancer class in FF5 NEVER master the Monk class at all.

I've played this on the PS1 back in the day and gil toss was freaking broken. U can make Neo X-Death never use that annoying Grand Cross by throwing money at it.

Can you not just use Reflect Rings to cheese Fork Tower without failing the challenge?

Yes but I NEVER had the Reflect Mages IN the barrier tower world 2 only really DROP any so the ONLY reliable way to get them is to STEAL them off of the 1 Phoenix Tower enemy instead ie via the Thief Knife if NOT in the Thief job class first. But While the Thief Knife IS in the Phantom/Mirage Village IN World 3 you don't NEED to enter the Forking Tower in order to equip it BUT on a White mage run their 1 of the few jobs that can't equip it and you MUST rely on the Reflect Mage Barrier tower drop until you get at least 2 of them.

If you watch his first video (or acutally pay attention this one) he mentions it takes 16 HOURS for the boss to run of of MP even with reflect rings.

Well I only used the reflect rings NOT to run the boss out of MP but to have its attack spell hit him BUT if you have 2x Reflect ring users when the boss uses the REGEN spell instead of using the spell on himself he will use it on your reflect ring users But in FF5 Regen IS reflectable but the only reliable way to have 2x Reflect ring users is to STEAL them via the Thief Knives since the Samurai class can equip it on world 3. The reflect knights Barrier Tower almost NEVER drop them so that isn't a option.

About that its the ONLY way I could kill them instantly I tried 4x Thrown Fire Water Lightning skills even at lv 45 + they won't DO enough damage when you throw 4 of them in 1 turn to KILL all 8 of them at once.

I played a Dragoon in FF11 and FF14. I know the pain.

For most melee classes, you can beat Omniscient with Mage Mashers. They silence him and prevent him from casting Return.

Silence lasts for like one round on omniscient. If you want to rely on a random chance going off back to back like 40 times sure. But thats not the reality I live in.

FF5 Dragoon sucks ass. They have mediocre stats, have nothing to offer to Freelancer, and their abilities are also lackluster. Basically you can play FF5 just fine by completely skipping them.

I agree other then killing Shinryu with dragon lances + Jump they suck BUT the Dragon Lances HAVE to be stolen and can't be used on a 1x to 4x Dragoon run and while the class has that LANCER skill it barely restores ANY HP/MP in FF5 and undead enemies are still IMMUNE TO IT.

Shinryu is susceptible to Berserk status, and it's permanent on him. Anyone who can cast it, and be able to defend against his massive attack stat should do just fine. No Dragon Lance necessary.

Except its faster faster then the ENTIRE party if you berserk it so it still best to jump with 2x Dragon lances each besides if you Berserk Shinryu then the Golem Summon won't even last for 1 HIT against it forcing you to cause the BLIND status via mix to make sure the physical hits it does NEVER connects

i feel like you shouldn't use the magic lamp for the later battles because it kinda makes them seem a bit too easy-

1) He only uses Magic Lamp against Neo Exdeath up to Odin (Zantetsuken) to instantly defeat one part of him, which there are FOUR of them. 2) Magic Lamp is still susceptible to user's Magic stat, most of the jobs have low Magic to make Magic Lamp more relevant. 3) You need to recharge it.

Jesus you sound exactly like strat-edgy.

So, for those unaware, when you level up in final fantasy games, it increases the number of hits you land, melee jobs progress faster than caster jobs for weapon attacks, and casters progress faster than melee for spell attacks. In the nes games the combat will show hits (maybe not in three, can't remember off the top of my head, I think they just display the numbers from then on), so that Backlog Buster is doing this at as low level as he can is quite impressive, really, since every job (... except goddamn failementalist) significantly benefits from leveling up.

I love the concept of dragoons, but a lot of the execution of them is awful in these games
