    DS2 uses directional rolling as a key element to its combat, unlike every other souls game. Rolling to the weak side against enemies with large weapons, rolling same direction as incoming swipe attacks around an enemy and dodging towards and under an enemy aerial attacks. Each time in video you comment on not knowing why fight suddenly seemed easy occured when you instinctively got the directional rolls down for each bosses attack. The addition of directional roll dynamic is how DS1 vets have sometimes gone from ng+ easy mode giants to lol@thenewb dying to the DS2 tutorial areas. Just for future runs 😉

    1:03:26 He didn't actually hit you through the bars. When that enemy fires its bow, the bow actually levitates up far above its body before shooting. You can see how the arrow comes in at a steep angle, then as you move the camera back and forth, the bow slowly returns to his side. It pretty much only makes a difference in this specific room, so I'm not surprised most people don't know about it.

    @@chronicscoliosisgaming1139 Except for the fact that all weapons in DS2 have a Dex requirement of 3 or more. Smelter Hammer is 6 Dex and 70 Strength. The only 2 weapons in the game with a Dex requirement as low as 3 are the Hand Axe and Reinforced Club - both of which are pretty terrible Strength weapons. I don't like leveling Dex just as much as most others trained in the bonk, but a minimum of 6 is required for maximum bonkage. Granted, this could be bypassed with a Dexterity Ring, since that adds 5 Dexterity, but I'm not so sure it's worth the ring slot. The only 'weapon' that works fine with no Dexterity are catalysts and Vanquisher's Seal. However, with no intelligence or faith, catalysts are right out - so you just have Vanquisher's Seal if you don't want to use rings. edit: I was wrong. Forgot about shields, haha! The majority of medium shields and greatshields have no Dexterity requirement, including Orma's Greatshield and Reeve's Greatshield - in other words, the Imperious Knights got it right.

I reckon the latter would've actually been really good for some of these fights. Also, at 1:03:23 that Possessed Armor has an attack where he loads an arrow, floats his bow like, 18 feet above him, then fires from there. So what happened there is intentional, you just missed the attack's telegraphs.

    Honestly after that One bit at the start, I just have to say how much I appreciate that you don't append any jokes with a self-depreciating qualifier. Soooo many KZreadrs seem to have this tendency to make a pun or reference and then immediately follow with something like "oh god, what a terrible joke, just end me now", "oh man, that reference is so obvious, ugh", or "I don't blame you if you unsub after that one" and it's just obnoxious to me at this point. Very refreshing to have a video where the little jokes just come and go without having someone stop and point them out every time.

    The point in which mind and controller blend together as you say during The Lost Sinner fight actually has a name. Its called the Flow State and ironically enough its really what ultra instinct is based on. Its most often recognized in sports but it can happen during gaming as well. Its a point at which skill meets challenge and you no longer need to think, you simply do. Once you realize youre in the Flow Stats, youll pull yourself out of it.

    Oh wow, I went and watched that and his arms are hitboxes???? WTF??? That is so weird. Also now I can see why dodging right in his second phase is so much safer, because if you dodge left, even if you dodge the sword, you'll get hit by the hitboxes on his arms. That is so strange. Why would his arms have hitboxes? And that also explains why you can get hit when behind him during certain attacks. Also, the hitbox of his sword is a cylinder. That's why it's larger than the sword itself. Same applies to the smelter demon I suppose.

  • @Red10122

    @Red10122

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@PressContinue If i am not wrong, cylinder hitboxes are the standard for all dark souls games (and probably all Fromsoft games), it's just that they are much bigger in ds2 and there are less of them (One big hitbox rather than multiple smaller hitboxes), here's a video of midir's hitboxes from ds3: kzread.info/dash/bejne/qnaTupR6p5DFlZs.html. But yeah, the arm hitbox is weird. I think it was supposed to stop you from getting too close and getting away with touching his arms rather than his sword but those are way too big.
