Put a set of bearings in that thing and roll on brother. I’ve had these Jeeps for 20 years now and have a 91 now and the old engine I had in it I put a set of bearings in it with just dropping the pan and doing it in the truck. I polished the crank with Emory cloth and it had some pretty nasty marks in it but this was over Christmas 2008 and parts stores were shut down and I needed the truck running so I went for it. My wife drove the truck to work 45 miles each way for the next 8 years and I just put a new engine in it this year. Those 360s are damn near bulletproof!!

Dope video man. I’ve been watching you for a while and I appreciate that you spit knowledge on the parts instead of just joking around and showing us clips. I’ve always wanted to do a restomod for a 240z and ya make it seem possible lesson by lesson. Mad respect for essentially teaching us all us viewers something.

Great episode. Sucks about the engine, but definitely worth finding another AMC V8 to swap into it for the long term. Good to see the Junkyard couple working together again! 👍👍

Love your videos! But can you maybe put a compressor on your audio? I enjoy watching in the background but if I put it loud enough to hear you guys talking, whenever you turn over an engine it's LOUD AS HECK! A compressor will bring those spikes in volume back down to a reasonable level. Just a request. :) Keep up the good work!

Get yourself a 3/4-inch PVC T-fitting and notch the T end so it fits into the locking hub spider. Makes a nice tool for locking the hubs.

The best fix for any engine noises or unwanted squeaks is a loud sound system. Obviously the louder the knock the bigger the speakers.

I had one of those, dark blue with factory orange shag carpet. With brown leather and cloth seats. The engine started to sound just like yours when I traded it in, along with $2,000 for a 1991 Rally Vandura 2500 GMC conversion van. Very nice van too. 350cid w/400 trans. Posi rear axle Had 62,000 original miles, and I put 75,000 more on it before giving it to a friend before I moved to North Pole, Alaska.

i love me an old grand wagoneer. my dad had a 60s/70s one in baby blue and one just like that, that he would drive me to school with all the time, so those cars really have a special place in my heart, and it was really cool seeing you make a video on one. great work as always!

Great video! I’ve had my Wagoneer for 6 years now. It sounds just like that and previous owner mentioned that it was the lifters. It have put almost 20 thousand miles in it and a few long trips, but not a problem with the engine yet, but it must be addressed. Looking forward to the next video and hopefully as usual, I’ll learn a few things from you guys! Keep it up! 😊

yayyyyy Mook is back! Those old Wagoneers are awesome. Idk the last time i seen one. Id say that engine deserves a full rebuild. What you said ab parking brakes is 100% accurate. My 05 F150 doesn't have one cuz it was all rusty and cut off and I've never used the one on my 03 Subaru Forester. I wouldn't dare use the one in my 65 Mercury Comet. So yeah here in the north on a vehicle that is getting older You are asking for trouble.

That distributer pickup is an induction sensor not hall effect. It makes ac voltage with 2 wires. A hall effect sensor is externally powered by 5v and would have 3 wires

Back in the mid 80s, I did my Eagle Scout community service project doing repairs to the pews in my church. The parish warden (in charge of repairs and maintenance in the church building) was a very sweet older gentleman who had a Jeep Wagoneer. It was older, but IMMACULATE! I have loved the Wagoneer ever since, and have always seen the Grand Cherokee as a sad replacement. I'd love to find a Wagoner, or even an old Cherokee, that hasn't been beat to death and super rusty. I'd much rather have one of these that a modern car filled with electronics. My daily commute is only 2 minutes, but I could pack it up to go camping, fishing, pull a small boat, etc. It also helps that I work in a NAPA Auto Parts store, and I've been working on cars for YEARS! We have lots of guys looking for parts for CJs, Wranglers, and Cherokees, but but not Wagoneers.

Definitely check the flywheel for cracks before you pull that motor down. Had that happen to me before and it sounds just like a rod knock. Pulled the dust cover off the transmission and shined a flashlight on the flywheel and you could see the shiny metal in the cracks reflect back. Great job on getting it going again and I love watching you two work together on projects. It always entertaining. Keep up the good work!!!

I have a 97 2 door Cherokee with a 5 speed that had a knock that got increasingly worse over time and thought it was a rod bearing being it had 207K miles on it and was beat to shit. Pulled the pan off and instead I found out that the number 6 piston had broken off a skirt. It now has a new freshened up 4.0 albeit with way more miles
