As a medical doctor, I have just been to Switzerland to train with other medical personnel in the initial steps of cryopreservation of whole body in order to have a chance to be revived in the future. This was done with Tomorrow Biostasis and cryonics could be an intermediate step before medical science reach sufficient advances to stop aging. An important note : the theoretical mind uploading is not immortality. It is just a copy of you and not really you, it will be a distinct consciousness just like twins are not the same person.

Is it really, though? How would you know if you were the original or not? What if the person who copies your person is the one who's real and you're the one in a digital computer looking at the real world through a computer screen?

Mind uploading is not the same as twins. Twins develop independently and have completely different consciousness. At the moment an AI copy became self-aware (assuming a perfect copy), it would be you. If your body remained alive, then it and your AI copy would then develop separately from that point. So, in that case, you remain, and you have a close AI copy. So it would be reasonable to say that only the original bodied version of you should have any rights in society. However, if your body died at the completion of the AI upload then, in my phylisophical opinion, the AI version would in fact be you. Indeed your AI mind would not know any different. And so your AI version should have the same rights in society as your, now deceased, body had..... Pop that in your pipe and smoke it ;-)

I'm 64 years old, and I might like to have fifty more years added to my life span, but I don't think I would want to live much longer than that. I've read a little about "near death experiences", and most of the people who have them want to repeat the process, and hopefully not have to live on this earth in our present state much longer. Nature has a way of punishing those who get too far out of balance. What if you secured another couple of hundred years of life, but you got increasingly depressed during that time? For many people, life is something to be endured, and not celebrated.

You already have immortality but not the way you think. When the body dies the soul continues and is eventually able to inhabit a new body called a baby. Then it is your ability to build a new life that is hopefully better and more spiritual than your previous life. Good luck.

@@ItzGhostHere hope AGI happens in 2025 the latest!:) if AGI can cure and help us better understand mental illnesses that’s be amazing:)! So many people are struggling with mental health disorders and it needs to be addressed. ASI is the next step and hopefully that comes out soon right after AGI. their needs to be better and new treatments Hopefully AGI soon can help with creating new better treatments for all types of mental, physical and all types of illness’ like heart conditions, Parkinson, even like schizophrenia and other types of mental illnesses which current doctors can’t even diagnose properly because each and very human being is unique.(lots are good. Not saying their all bad):) I hope when AGI comes it can help me retain my ability and help me have a scholar like mindset and AGI can help me love learning algebra, geometry, earth science and more subjects. Currently I don’t have that ability to learn subjects. It’s not just augmentation of intelligence you know their is more to intellect👍 Hopefully when AGI arrives, their will be technology that will enable us humans to be able to reverse our aging, cure diseases’ like cancer and enhance humans’ intelligence:) Also AGI technology that can enable us to choose what memories to keep in our brain and which memories to delete or discard. This would be awesome!:) If I am missing any new ideas that will be invented when AGI arrives please share it here. However the future is bright only if we make it bright for us. Sorry for venting dude. Just so much going on in my mind and I am excited lol:)

In whispers of a future age, Where tech and dreams start to engage, Michio Kaku, with wisdom rife, Unfolds the door to digital life. In quantum realms where bits entwine, Lies the prospect, quite divine: The rise of quantum computation's power, A realm where innovation towers. Kaku speaks of AI's grand scope, A path where consciousness may elope, Into machines of wondrous might, A merging of mind and silicon's light. The birth of quantum computing's role, Unlocks the gates to a digital soul, Where consciousness, in binary array, Might seek a path to forever stay. Digital immortality, an intriguing quest, Merging minds with codes, a manifest, A union where our essence lives on, A world where mortality may be gone. But in these musings, ponder we must, The deeper implications, the human trust, For within the realms of binary streams, Do emotions flow, or just the gleams? Can consciousness in circuits thrive, Or in human hearts, does it derive? As AI and humans start to blend, Where does our mortal journey end? Though quantum paths may seem so wide, And digital realms may try to hide, The truth of living eternally, Is it within ones and zeros’ spree? For in this quest for life's extension, Lies the heart of human intention, To love, to learn, to leave a trace, In a world beyond a digital space. Kaku's vision, a future's call, Explores the chances, asks us all, Can we live forever, in a coded domain, Or in our stories, in hearts remain? As quantum wonders start to rise, We ponder life's eternal ties, In every memory, every endeavor, Resides the essence of "forever."

I wonder how many people consider themselves their genome or genetic activity. It’s hard to realize when hoping for an afterlife for an already eternal soul.

  • @richarddoyle689

*Consciousness involves 2 Components; 1/. An Analytical Process involving the brain, and 2/. "AWARENESS", which is NOT a human Component, and is Non-Dimensional, NOT representing nor even remotely looks anything like any species, including the human species ! Your Universe including humans and other species is just a ":STORY", being displayed as a "Holographic Simulation" involving "Virtual Reality" in a very, very small Display Register of "The Processing System of LIFE" !*

All those answers are in Quran and lot more date about immortality and even aging. GOD tell us about our sleep that it's also kind of death which humans experience throughout there life's and one day we die and about the death GOD told us dead people are so dead that they don't even know when they will raise again. And on day of judgment we all will raise again and then what GOD told us is no death and some endup planets full of gardens and some will fall into the hell fire according to our performance in this world which is also recorded to be judge by our Lord one and only GOD of us all on the day of judgment. I personally when feel my self in my old age I feel same from inside but outside when I see in mirror I see the aging I personally think it's a traveling effects towards our destiny and even we may succeed to reduce the effects but can't prevent the process which is finally end up with a promise of immortal life. Insha ALLAH
