About us:
We're Jack & Megan, and in late 2020 we sold our belongings and packed our lives into our 2005 Toyota Troop Carrier to travel Australia. Our original plan was to complete a full lap of Australia and return home to Perth to resume our 'normal' lives. We decided we wanted to document our lap for the future and began sharing weekly travel vlogs of our life on the road and fell in love vlogging, filmmaking and sharing our lives with you. We completed our first lap and couldn't imagine living any other way so we decided to continue travelling and calling the Troopy home. We have gone on some crazy adventures since then and it is all thanks to you tuning in to join us every week.

A very popular conversation in the day. Great choice of a Chevrolet small block and a Toyota. Both really simple to work on and have taken up a lot of the last 50 years of my life. You are going to learn a lot and enjoy yourselves. Love this.

When it comes to car build projects, nothing's better than a project vehicle that comes with loads of fond memories and acres of sentimental value. And if the vehicle is a classic and desirable to boot, makes it far better. Love the intro of this video of nostalgic photos showing how the FJ has been part of the family for years - as well as seeing what it looked like at its prime. I hope you keep the original colour. I love it ❤ Looking forward to following the journey of this build. I'm very excited for you guys. I wish you both the very best. 👍

Loved the start of this video ❤ It's wonderful to see that this truck has been part of your family for decades. Makes the build even more special. Just like my 80 Series. It's been with my eldest sister's family since new (1996) and since 2018, it's been mine - still keeping it within the family, and it's a keeper. Looking forward to the next build episode.

I know someone with an FJ like yours running a 1HZ. that thing drives and hums like a dream!! not to mention they are still awesome looking trucks. All the best with your build....it will surely look brilliant Im sure!

You need to sand blast and hot dip Galvanise the chassis. You need to plan and start at the very beginning. Parts are available from Mr Landcruiser such as roof, panels, wiring looms and accessories. Search Mr Landcruiser. You need to plan and do it right from scratch. It needs a "Nut and Bolt" job - rebuilt to new. Planning, time and money are the key words. Do the job properly. It's a huge job.

What an awesome project. I had an FJ40 with a V8 back in the day as my beach toy in Qld. but I always wanted to build a 45 & of course with a V8., it just never happened! As an Ex-business owner of a Hot Rod/Resto shop, be prepared to do the "Hard Yards" & Please...... do not cut any corners with the build. Not knowing much about cars has you at a very big disadvantage (I try not to cringe when you have no idea) but please be careful of any advice you might get here or from the so called "experts" THIS is your next adventure, going somewhere you haven't been before can be very daunting, but I can kind of tell you'll do ok. Looking forward to the challenges ahead!!

Hey guys stick a screwdriver through the oil filter and turn. Hard to see from the video but it looked like to could get the screwdriver through the top of the chassis. Just an idea that my old man showed me once. Any thought to going back to the stock six cylinder or are you leaving with the chev, good luck with the build cheers Mark

Love it how your ol' man kept it registered all these years but never drove it. Classic 🤣WA obviously do not have an annual rego safety inspection. In NSW, vehicles older than 5 years, are required to pass an annual eSafety check (aka Pink Slip) at rego time. You would not be able to continue to register a vehicle without it.

Going to pull every panel off and sandblast it..... Getting the engine to start and run is going to be the cheap easy part of the project. Good luck. Bloody lot of work when you start stripping the whole car down. Theres a good reason there is so many project cars in garages half done for years. As for the oil filter. Looks like you could get a strap or big multigrips in between chassis and body behind the front wheel.

hi guys, you obviously have nothing to do on the weekends...............hahahahhhhh looks like a great project, 350 chev was a popular conversion in the early days of Landcruiser's so all good on that side and very reassuring that it turns over first go. Most of what you need re panels and mechanical bits are available in one form or another if you can't restore what you've got. there's a guy in QLD that specializes in early LC parts, think he's called Mr Landcruiser, he also seems like a world of knowledge regarding resto's. Love that this is a family car and you're going to bring it back to life. Although you will need for Megan to update her attire to something more work like and not white 😁😎🤪

I've seen them in much worse condition than that , the good thing with them is all the body panels come apart , right down to the tub . There was a restored one down the road from me a few months ago for sale for $35,000 , a few weeks later it disappeared so presumably sold . The windscreen surround will have rust ( they always do ) so that should come out but is repairable by the looks , crash course in mig/tig welding coming up ? Do you know if the gearbox is 4 or 5 speed ? Great to get a first look at it , chassis looks good and it's straight , good base to start from :-)
