1986 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ62 Restoration Project
Are you ready to go back in time? Time to cue up some Huey Lewis and the News because this vintage 4x4 is ready to take you back to the year 1986. Rebuilt to near-original specs, and outfitted with a few upgrades for our client in Austin, Texas, this rig is ready to redefine the daily drive.
1980s Design
This is the kind of truck that probably topped Marty McFly’s wish list the year after he “came back from the future.” It’s got that badass rugged look with those retro side stripes, and plenty of heavy rubber and chrome to go around. And to top it off, we outfitted this 80s dream rig with upgraded exterior lighting and gave it a fresh coat of Olive paint.
Inner Mischief
Don’t be fooled by this Land Cruiser’s friendly face. The FJ62 was built in the same spirit of the original Land Cruiser - built to own any road. First, we rebuilt the original 3F engine, using OEM parts. The suspension was upgraded to Old Man Emu and this FJ62's four-wheel drive components were rebuilt to mud-splashing, water forging, rock crawling perfection. So get strapped in - it’s going to be a fun ride.
Elevated Comfort
This Land Cruiser's cabin is comfortable and spacious with plenty of extra headroom. Seating is trimmed in durable, hand-stitched vinyl and the rear seats fold down to make way for extra cargo. Look up to take a quick glance at the altimeter and outside temperature. Then, flip the switch to open the power sunroof and let some fresh air in. Ready for some entertainment? Connect your iPhone® to the Bluetooth®-ready receiver, and let the upgraded digital sound system take your breath away.

Wow stripped down bare. No expense spared. Fantastic restoration!
One of the best restorations I’ve ever seen. Great to see the metal finish on the repairs. No plastic filler to be seen. That is the sign of a true panel beater.

your wrecked it true changed it from oringal colour red.....also buy adding an auto to 2f motor whitch is unpowered as it is......being a 1989 GXL 60 series owner my self for last sixteen years in austraila my sixty has no rust any where and has the 3f 5 speed manual and electric windows power steering airconditioning as standard items and keeped in its oringal dark grey metal flake color.............great 4wds

Love these old 60s. Their bodies are full of rust, but the chassis a hard, strong and straight. And the engines are so reliable

I've owned an 86 fj62 Sahara (HIGH ROOF) for the last 21 years now, still my daily driver, very little rust 600k km on the clock with non rebuild standard engine, still runs like new, best car I've ever owned. No not selling!

@@Brandon0083 Thanks for your interest but no mate, sorry, no Instagram, but it's a silver and metallic brown with a high roof "Sahara" early FJ62RG single headlight, rear aircon original radio, basically as they came apart from Ali bullbar, 12000lbs winch, spare and jerry cans on the rear. No roof rack. 33"x12.50 mt tyres, 2" lift, LSD, very little rust, bad paint job, paint dont get you home! Looks okay (from a distance!) Just took it on a 7000km drive through all sorts of bad roads, tracks, corrugations, mud, deserts etc to North QueensLand from South Aussie by myself, had two problems , exhaust bracket broke and spot light globe broke, that was it and a shitload of fuel!! Carried 195L and needed it all between the longest distance fuel stop 900km, bad track!
Thanks for sharing , we still have our FJ 62 we bought new in 89 , we still love the truck and us it every day .
