    The 90 degree bends in WW1 were mainly to prevent enemy soldiers from shooting straight down lengths of trenches. It wasn't just the Germans who did that - the British and French used exactly the same design.

    Works also with shrapnel which can kill from far away, having corner prevents one lucky shot landing on the bottom of the trench wiping everyone in the line of sight. So there were literally no benefits to keep trench a straight.

    Can you imagine being the first poor sods who died to that? An entire battalion being wiped out in seconds by a random lucky soldier with an smg just shooting one way and then the other way. (ignore that they didn't have smgs at the start of WW1 lol)

    It's a different show, read the title. This is There's your problem, it's been on prime for a while, every time this channel uploads an episode of this there is always a comment from someone who can't realize it's different from the original show.

    At 7:59 you can see something written on the bomb. It's hard to read, it looks like: *_"To Asania - with Love"_* and I can't figure out the rest. "Calinares Count Bomb CRD"?! I tried to google it but couldn't find anything. Does anyone know a little more about this?

    There is a reason Newton cradles have highly polished solid steel balls... and not some other, softer material... wood wouldn't work as efficient because it absorbs impacts, it dents... much like concrete... I would like to see the big experiment with solid steel polished balls.. I suppose that would work much better... The losses in efficiency in the smaller test are due to inertia... the bigger the ball, the greater the mass, the more inertia you need to overcome, the more momentum will be lost with each transfer.. but i think the big ones from polished solid steel should still have an 80%-ish efficiency... But with the concrete hybrid balls most of the energy is absorbed rather than used to overcome inertia... The concrete will absorb a lot even though it's not directly hit.. the shock will crack it internally, which dissipates energy nevertheless. The deformation of the rings is worst than it would be if it was supported by a solid sphere the material lattice support all around will make it deform less easy... The big scale solid balls probably still dent to a degree, dissipating energy, but less so than a disc or ring... ring would be the worst.. But because there is no material lattice between concrete and steel there is no support.. So the disc will deform less than the ring, but more than a full solid sphere... So a full solid sphere would be most efficient.. really really heavy, unwieldy and expensive, and probably still lose a lot of energy in deformation of the sphere.. but a lot less than this setup... A small Newton cradle already works way less efficient if the balls aren't polished as they are.. even sticking tape on them reduces efficiency.. because the tape absorbs energy therefore loses momentum. It needs to be shiny and clean to efficiently transfer 'all' energy... ('all' means: as much as possible)

    Completely unfeasible to build solid steel balls of that size. The showrunners knew it wasn’t going to work, it’s more a way to teach people critical thinking and not to assume viral media is always true.
