A long long long long time ago, I used to do technical maintenance in 5 office buildings... Someone stole the copper from the lightning protection, and exactly that night lightning struck... All the PCB's of the entire alarm system where completely burned... And they were connected mainly to the phone line and some 12 volt battery lines... After I saw this I was sure that you don't want to be on a landline during a lightning storm..

THE MYTH OF not using a computer during a lightning storm came from 1980 when chips that powered the ZX Spectrum were susceptible to the EMP of a lightning strike several miles away, the electrically charged atmosphere was enough to throw off the carefully balanced calculations in side the memory or CPU , and the result that i have witnessed myself, was specifically Blue Screen of Death, before a Blue screen was such a thing, the effect was a screen of garbage but no electrocution fortunately

I got shocked by a lightning passing through water. Thankfully I was only washing my feet but I felt it passing from one foot in the sink through the other on the ground. And the electricity went out in the entire house. So yeah, not touching water during a storm enymore haha😅

One thing I know for certain, in my 23 years at present address in rural Queensland I lost two telephones to storms. After that I invested in a phone lightning arrester (looks like a capacitor to me) and stopped unplugging my phone during thunderstorms. So far so good.

I live in South Australia. One guy bought a boat and trailer. He launched it at St. Kilda boat ramp, trailer still attached. He tried motoring along the St. Kilda channel and wondered why his boat had no go.

Regarding lightning strikes, +30 years ago I worked with computer repair. Got an computer in who was hit by lighting. This was the old type an 386 or 486 with the thick round keyboard plug instead of the back panels we have today and an physical power switch. The lighting was not able to bridge the power switch but an home stereo system was connected to the sound card. Stereo was burned out I was told but pc looked pretty fine even if did not start, then I noticed the output transistors on the soundcard was blown up. It and motherboard was destroyed, cpu grapic card, ram and other was fine, they was lucky :) As an modern computer is also always on it would be burned to.

I was at a house in Canberra Australia in the 90's. Just the night before they reported to have been on the phone during a lightning storm. They claimed a bolt came out of the mouthpiece (not touching the person holding it), across the kitchen and fried their refrigerator. Sure enough the fridge was indeed dead

This is timely as it is time to dump my tank into a tote and drive it the 3km down the highway to the dump station. Friends had been using my trailer a couple weeks ago and did a dump and the tank still showed 2/3 full after so I am assuming it is mostly solids and toilet paper as it is not special paper. I have a 40 gallon black tank and 42 gallon tote so likely will need to make two trips which is a hassle as the tank will need to be on my boat trailer to move it. I will also be using a macerator to move the contents to the tote. This will be interesting as it will be the first time doing this procedure. Thank you for the video.

Jamie dragging Adam like a horse was hilarious. It really makes you wonder whether they despise each other to the bone or just the producer tactic media. I mean, they don't get along but they can fool around with each other.

They may not be friends but they don't hate each other, they respect each other as professionals and "like" working with each other, both Adam and Jamie have confirmed this on multiple occasions. Best example other then this show is Jamie asked Adam to help build Blendo their robot for Robot Wars/Battle Bots. You wouldn't ask someone you hate or dislike working with to help build something like that

@@bethaapple2102 Like my work, (pun intended) One hour, we almost scream at each other, the other hour, we sit down and eat in the lunch room talking. Now Adam has been working for Jamie several years before the Mythbusters series, so they knew each other very well. And Jamie was the one that hired Adam for the Mythbusters series, because of his skill and personality. Good tv so to speak.

I spent a couple of months during my apprenticeship in the transformer shop, repairing and reconfigureing line transformers. We didn't have our own generator, but we did have a pretty direct drop from the local coal power plant. And when anything blew up, it was these bloke's job to fix it anyway. Somewhat of a caveleir attitude. And they could chalk alot up to "oh, we're just testing/training" to the big wigs. Which is fair, they'd blow one up for you to fix as a real simulation (obviously known bad hardware, nothing of value lost). An excellent education. But they weren't against showing off. Strapping a 1" crowbar on the highest amps and exploding it. Because... Well, they could. Great guys to work with. If you were smart, electocution pranks were common. They knew what would kill ya and what just really hurt.

The more likely reason for not showering in a lightning storm is some bathrooms don't have windows so a power cut could leave you in the dark with no means of seeing what's happening and where you are, wet bath tub/shower floor is a massive risk to slip and crack your head
