It’s sharper than Mandarin, what I’m assuming people are more used to hearing since it is also under Chinese and is a bit more mainstream. Thats probably why. Maybe people will have the same reaction to Vietnamese

Yes omg I’m Malaysian and I speak Cantonese like I grew up speaking it but I didn’t how difficult is it until someone told me that there are nine tones so I was shocked lmaooo

I think of it less as "add oil" and more like "floor it", as in the gas pedal. I can see why it would be translated as "you can do this".

When I saw Cantonese I was like OH HELLS YEA MY PEOPLE

The whole time I thought she is Taiwanese lol....her cantonese is on point! waiting for the video with Japanese instructions lol

I think she’s not, or at least her father is from Cantonese region Her surname is Lam (林，藍）and that’s a Cantonese pronunciation. If she’s Taiwanese, it should be Lin
