Can This New Year Model TCM Revive A Nearly Extinct Species of XJs?

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

These older model (87-90) Jeep Cherokee TCMs are basically impossible to find at this given point. Not aware of a company remanufacturing them and used is hard to find. I decided to take a gamble against what people said would work so the older Renix Style Cherokees can stay on the road just a little while longer.

Dex, Justin or any other XJ owner and lover of this tried and true vehicle that has continued to make a reputation for itself. ❤ I need some advice and guidance from my fellow XJ owners and family 😊 I have an early built 97 XJ (build date 02/08/1997) with manual windows and locks. I've thankfully owned this ole guy for the past 5+ years and I absolutely love it and would be lost not having it. The XJ is factory black and been repainted Black from the previous owner(my favorite color) and my little boy helped me name it "Vader" 😊 He loves Star Wars and Darth Vader. ❤ Now to my question, Since I've owned it all these years, there is a clicking sound in the steering wheel when I turn it a few times. It has done this the past year or so. I oiled and greased the bushing above the brake pedal and it still does it. Could it be a worn out clock spring? My horn still works fine and I have never had the Airbag light pop up in the dash cluster....

Are you referring to the TCM connector? Or connectors on the transmission itself? Sometimes, if the wire color code is same, and only the plug shape is different, you may be able to just change the plug connector end, swap wires one at a time... There are tools made to slide in and release the wire end connectors, from plug body. Sometimes , , the right size plastic straw can do the same...
