It most certainly can be fixed. First thing to remember is that even when this was made, it was made to a price. That means cutting corners wherever possible. Chances are good the "prongs" in that socket just pierce the wire insulation to make connection. You should be able to slide that metal clip off, and the socket should come apart. Should be able to be fixed at that point; might have to solder some wires on the prongs in the socket and then attach to the existing wire. Another option--the salt lamps that I have use a socket eerily similar to that, including the metal clip. Might be a different bulb base size, but you can get a bulb for it. That would be as simple as splicing the existing wiring to the new assembly. Socket may be black or brown, but that shouldn't make any difference in this case once the top is on. Definitely don't give up on it, it 100% can be fixed. They don't make those anymore, you'll never find them again, and I am sure that it has been part of your Christmas setup since new, and would be a real shame to disband it altogether.

Should have just given it LEDs hun, would never have happened otherwise!! I can see maybe after the season about re-wiring it. Hopefully things didn't get melted together because of that arcing. Though a different socket, which I think you're suggesting too could definitely be an option as well. It is funny how I remember seeing a few of these North Pole decorations back on Long Island, and many don't know about that lower bulb inside the center. Or they do know about it, and just don't care. Speaking of bulbs, the CFL in the Santa decoration called it quits. But it was in there anywhere since from 2005 to 2007, so it lasted. One of those glass bulb LEDs has taken its place. Really glad those became a thing before that happened.

@@Sharkie626 I just had an LED burn out the other day, it had been in service for 2 weeks! Chances are good people forgot about the lower bulb. They're careless. Funny how "less" and "free" mean "without", but "careless" and "carefree" have diferent meanings. That was a very fair run on that CFL, definitely no complaints about that. I bet Santa is THRILLED to be -electrocuted- electrified with an LED.

I had commented earlier, but it seems my comment didn't work! Yes, absolutely this can be fixed. I would suggest a two socket Christmas village light strand. A three light strand would work too, you'd just have a second light in the base, which may look even better. They are readily available on the jungle site, or the like. Same white wire, and metal clips. Those sockets can also be replaced, but I think for this application, the replacement light string would be quicker, and easier.
