You need to set the spark plug gap! Champion spark plugs are made for a variety of engines sizes which require varying spark gaps, check your owners manual for the proper spark gap.

I just phoned gererac today and apparently the spark plug gap changes by year it was made so mine was made in 2020 and is a 16 kw and the gap is 0.020 inches and I believe a 2023 model would be 0.040 inches best to take a few minutes and phone generac with your serial number and get the proper gap.

Thank you! You taught me and it was easy. My generac is fixed now! (It wouldn't start for over two weeks)

Very thorough but you did not mention plug gap. The plug is generic and has multiple uses. I have to gap mine to .040" or 1.02mmm for my generac model

When putting the front panel back on I long ago noticed that mine rattled right there where the pins sit in the slot. I got creative and bought a cheap 3/4" rubber gromet and cut in in half and slipped it in and no more rattles!

Can I ask a question? Why won't my brand-new Generac standby start? It cranks and cranks but won't start, has power has fuel/propane. Did the setup check the fuse spark plugs are connected didn't take them out. Any ideas?

My guess is there's no spark or fuel getting to it.

After changing spark plugs, all a guy needs to do is say BRING THE THUNDER like VGG and then startup the generator!
