Can The Rebel 500 HANDLE A Passenger?! (Let's REALLY Find Out...)

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

We put the Rebel to the TEST to find out if it could handle having a passenger on the back of it. There's some conflicting info out there as to how well it would actually do, but I think our little "test course" helped show the Rebel 500's performance in pretty much any situation. Make sure you check out the post-ride interview at 10:43 to see how my wife REALLY feels about us going out on the Rebel together...

    yes we did it there. In leyte when i was grade school theres the kawasaki 100cc two stroke extended the rear grab handle of welded steel bar and flatbars so that it can fit 5 people with driver ,, when having a girl passenger she will have to be seat behind us.. When going stiff uphill the driver tealt his head forward so the mc wont flip.. That uphil is located @san esteban burauen leyte. Hahah just sharing😂

    We rode three kids on one pedal bike back when we were kids, an actual gasoline engine isn't gonna care about an extra 100 pound girl. I wouldn't be surprised if that Honda could tow 1000 pounds in low gear.

    The brakes aren’t any different. Only noticeable changes are suspension, seat, lights, clutch, and a couple other odds and ends. In my opinion, the 2020 is nice, but you can easily buy a 2017-2019 and put even better upgrades than the 2020 has, and come out spending less money in the end. I’m going to be doing a price reveal for my bike soon. Stay tuned!

I made a higher seat for my wife to sit on to give her more leg room and it works really well. I think your wife is sitting too far back. The CB250 from 12 years ago also has a 345lb passenger Max spec, and came with the passenger area to the stock seat, strap and folding pegs. It only had a 234cc carb. motor and handled 300lbs just fine up to 60mph. Little slower up steep hills, but you are only checking flatlander riding anyway. Posture looked a bit better on the CB. Similar old fashioned pre load small shocks.

    I’ve got the 2022 Rebel 500 ABS SE… it was perfect to learn on for me. I have to admit I didn’t think it would perform well riding with my wife. I’m a stalky 5’6” 190lbs and my wife is 5’7” 130lb. Bike does plenty well. Her only complaint was her knees a little too much but I fixed the issue when I ordered her the aftermarket dual length single seat and a backrest.

    What aftermarket seat did you bought? I'm looking to buy the rebel too but my girl is almost as tall as me, 6', and I thought the stock seat would be a pain to ride on so if you could tell me which is and is the difference very noticeable

I got it from ZeedParts, but heads up, it took forever to get here, showed up with a couple tears, and didn’t look exactly as advertised. So not sure I’d recommend them really.

    Simply adding a trunk+rack to my honda rebel 300 caused some kind of weight imbalance. It went from feeling nimble and light to slightly heavy and when i took my hands off the bars during deceleration the handlebars wobbled a little bit. It made me paranoid about getting death wobbles on the highway so I took the trunk off and it went back to being light and nimble and the handlebars stay smooth if i remove my hands now. SO how the crap does it not happen with a passenger? Or is it something people don;t notice? OR is it a difference between the 500 and 300cc versions?

    Hi Burch! I've been following you for a while and got my lovely Rebel 500 two weeks ago and I love it. I share the same frustration as you and everyone else that the cover on the right side pokes out too much. My legs gets real sore after a half hour of riding. Does this go away with time, any suggestions for me to last longer riding the bike?

  • @xfiringsquadx
    @xfiringsquadx3 жыл бұрын

    Can it do 2 up? Of course. Those of us that grew up on dirt bikes are all too familiar with throwing a friend on the back of a 50 or 85 so a 500 can definitely do it. The real question is how well it'll do it and for a 500 I'd say it does it pretty well. The Vulcan S probably takes the cake with 2 up riding in this class but this bike isn't far behind especially considering how much smaller it is.

    I’ve personally never had an issue with cramping and I’m a lanky 5’10”. I have heard of others saying that they get cramps, but I can go out for hours without issue. Granted, I’m pretty flexible and stay hydrated so that could be helping me, and I’m also used to more of a sport bike position in the first place. If you haven’t already, maybe look into DePretto Moto forward controls. They’re a bit pricey at about $450, but they give you roughly 6.5” more leg room!

    I’m 5,7 170 and I would say it was fine. Just stretch and hydrate and you should be fine. On our really long rides, my legs definitely cramped and I would’ve rather have forwards or have highway pegs on the bike to put my feet up

    Yea the power is just fine! Not neck-breaking by any means, but it’ll do everything you need it to. Gotta keep the throttle open more than my VFR on the highway, but that’s to be expected. I’d never want to do a long highway trip on it, but short highway rides are totally fine.
