seriously. like... even if you weren't watching, you can hear how fast he's clicking and pressing keys. he's super fast. and when you're watching it, you can see he's not just clicking fast and pressing buttons to run up his APM like certain starcraft players.

mortar rush can counter laser rush, when you able to make your opponent base swing, the laser/firebeam hardly able to constantly aiming at the exact same spot.

@@someone-ji2zb A late reply, but base shape can tell a lot about your opponent's strategy. For example, that base shape can't really hold mortar or cannon rushes, and the back is open to detect silos or deep economy. It narrows the possibilities down a lot.

sucks is a understatement; its a gimmick

You should try flak only. As in, only standard flak for both offence and defence. Also, Scattershot and Tanya's mod's Gatling guns would be devastating.

No, that's bad. You can not cover all your weak spots without ruining your energy production. The Proper defense is wood spam with a few metals when you have spare metal. This plus proper double baced and roped base.

@@aierce Defense changes depending on the weapon your trying to defend from. not dense wood spam and flak for missiles, energy shields for lasers, slanted metal for miniguns, dense woodspam for sniper spam, etc

You did mortar rush, 20 mm rush and laser rush. Now I want some other cool tacticts like mini gun rush or anything else that's really early in the game and how to progress from early rush to mid game!

Can't tell if you're joking or not (I'm pretty bad at telling people's emotions) but he puts the battery BEHIND the core so it can't be hit around it, and the opponent has to go through the core to get to the battery, which ends the game

At 1:53 he specifically states that he puts the battery away from the core and the mineral storage near the core. at 15:06 the exact same scenario arises and he does the complete opposite. To me that was somewhat funny and all I was really getting at. I agree with you somewhat on the behind part. I think it would still be possible to hit the battery behind the core with a laser (the bottom base has an angle that could hit imo) or mortars although that would be fairly unlikely. But what do I know I don't even play the game. I just watch this dude lazoring people.

Ah I see. Yes that is pretty funny how he switches, but I can get that he just makes a few mistakes. I would absolutely love to see him trickshot (or get trickshotted by) a ricochet going behind the core into a battery

@@nerdsgalore5223 Yeah just typical Incursus. Same with his ropes sometimes. He knows he should put them down first but just forgets about it. Badly placed energyshield reflecting a laser towards the battery would also be glorious. You'd need a really weird angle for that to work though.

This came at the perfect time. Just finished watching all of your non-steam Forts videos yesterday and played multiplayer forts for the first time last night. It is insane how well this tactic works. But was caught completely off guard then the player I had been decimating learned how to build a base that would not be destroyed in the first strike, and then just starting covering everything in energy shields. And I still have not managed to build your sandbag windmill defence correctly. How do you delete walls so quickly, it takes so many clicks the method I am using?

He gets metal out of selling it for an early advantage. The replacement wood then flattens the front, making it even and organized

I usually strip the front armor to reclaim its resources. At the start, having more resources is more important than armor. For the angled piece above, I do this to split the topmost horizontal brace. In Forts, each brace can only support 1 device, no matter the size of the brace. So by splitting the beam in 2, I can now place 2 devices in the same space as the single longer brace.

click faster, do it more.... sounds like me being an ass but it is literally how. Plan what you are going to build and what you need then go for it. as you get more comfortable with eyeballing box sizes you will become faster.

I just cant handle how similar you sound to Patrick Adair Designs... I honestly sometimes think that you run both channels... Though its probably not the case.

He almost always covers the doors though, you cant see a door open if it is completely covered by structure

Each commander kinda is good for some specific strats but architect and overdrive are used mostly because they can rush anything quite fast and have ressources to defend. That’s why they are the most used, but you can also play seep to nuke rush for example

So how does one tell if someone is rushing laser? Just the shape of the base? And if so, then couldn't someone just go a cannon rush with a similar shape? I guess I just don't get how a good player would handle the first match in the complete blind vs a laser rush.

Cannons don't penetrate nearly as well. The trick with laser rushing is to slice their base in half early so they don't have a chance to hard counter with energy double bracing. Counter is early harass with mortars to keep them busy and from amassing the resources needed. Base size is also a factor since a rusher won't spend many resources on "extra" space for their base, but rather just what they need and frontal defenses. Other counter is an AP sniper rush to just snipe their core (notice he doesn't add additional metal bracing around his core, thus vulnerable to AP snipy).

Nice rush, but I still prefer mine with architect Also, I’m happy to have shown this game this strat, though I made it a lot stronger that what you are doing in this video :p Anyone rushing you can one shot your laser if he shoots on the plasma laser’s door before you put the 2nd one

you know, just looking at your strategies and these tutorial builds, forts really is quite like chess. On the basic level, you can just do rushes for days and delete your adequate adversaries, but when you get to the higher tiers you have to do ever-more unexpected things - or play perfectly - to win. Of course, there is less timing in chess. Maybe it's speed chess. All I know is that incursus is awesome.

An interesting question: How many times did you lose to one of those rushes? kkkkkkkk

Still don't have forts after watching at least half of your videos. Want it really badly but my magic the gathering addiction is holding me back and I keep wasting my money of that and McDonald's
