Can’t paint? Mark Making is the answer - Challenge

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Mark Making is a simple way to learn to see beauty in anything. By practicing Mark Making you also learn in what ways you can use several art materials to create interesting looking images. It’s fun and in this video I explain how you can enter the painting challenge: try mark making, take pictures of what you made and submit them to be included in one of my future videos. Thanks in advance.

Painting Challenge: Mark Making
Submit your artwork on or before January 9, 2022.
The exercise is shown and explained in the video. You’re free to choose your art materials, size, color, the art tools you use or whatever. Complicated or simple, realistic or abstract, just surprise me. Whatever you do: enjoy the magic of making art and remember: create to express, not to impress. So any artistic level is okay. Be you and have fun making it.
Also mail me your first name and the country you live in, so I can put them next to your artwork in the video. I appreciate it very much when you also send me a line or two about what you experienced while making your artwork. Did you learn anything, enjoyed playing like this or ran into trouble? I just love to hear from you. Please submit your artwork before January 9, 2022. Just take your phone and snap a picture looking straight down at your artwork, preferably using daylight, but no direct sunlight on it.

In almost all my videos I use with Winsor&Newton Galeria acrylics, if not, I will say so in the video.
Other materials I use are in random order: 5, 10 and 40mm brushes, palette knives, acrylics medium, Ecoline liquid watercolor, Lyra color pencils, Lyra soft pastels, oil pastels, Stabilo color pencils, paper palette pad and basic masking tape. I also use household items like a permanent marker, scrub sponge, scissors, paper towel, and so on.

I joined a local painting group organized by a professional art teacher. Turned out to be that the group mates are so good at painting, sketching human body etc. I felt like I have to use my logic to make my art work looks more “professional “, and then I didn’t enjoy that way of painting. Yesterday I had another session with them, and I used what I learnt from your channel “paint to express not impress”, I had fun ! Thank you Mr Albert!

Great to hear lolli. I know what you mean, hard work versus playing. You made the right choice and it's so important to be aware how you feel about all this. Thanks for sharing! Albert

Interesting challenge and something anyone with any experience level can do. I'll try it and see what happens. I was watching another video where an artist was talking about the same idea with watercolors. Hope things are fine there.
